London has number of museums and and art galleries, and as a result there are always good art exhibitions to be seen throughout the year. March 2011 is no exception, with exhibits that include Afghanistan - Crossroads Of The Ancient World, Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, Modern British Sculpture and the British Art Show.

Afghanistan - Crossroads Of The Ancient World
3rd March 2011 - 3rd July 2011
British Museum
High Holborn, London
Tickets: £10

This is a unique opportunity to see some of the ancient treasures from Afghanistan that survived destruction at the hands of the Taliban and also the preceding Russian invasion and civil war.

The exhibition includes over 200 items are on loan from the National Museum of Afghanistan in Kabul, including classical sculptures, furniture, roman glass, stone tableware and jewellery, with some objects dating back to 2,000 BC.

The Unilever Series: Ai Weiwei
12th October 2010 - 2nd May 2011
The Tate Modern
Bankside, London
Admission: FREE

Born in Beijing in 1957, Ai Weiwei is one of China's best known artists, and has filled the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern with over 100 million sunflower seeds made out of porcelain, this being the 11th annual commission for the Unilever Series.

Visitors to the exhibit can ask the artist questions using video booths, and also via Twitter.

Modern British Sculpture
22nd January 2011 - 7th April 2011
Royal Academy Of Arts
Burlington House, London
Tickets: £12

This exhibition of Modern British Sculpture has works by top British artists, including Jacob Epstein, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore and Damien Hirst.

The Royal Academy Of Arts also has a number of themed galleries, showing British sculpture through the ages as well as international sculptures.

British Art Show 7
16th February 2011 to 17th April 2011
Hayward Gallery
South Bank Centre, London
Tickets: £8

The British Art Show is a touring exhibition of contemporary British art, which takes place every five years in four different cities in the UK. This will be the first time that the exhibition has taken place in London for 21 years.

This year the exhibition is themed "Days Of The Comet", and the works on 39 artists and artists groups that are taking part reflect on this cosmological theme.

The exhibition includes new films by Anja Kirschner, David Panos and Elizabeth Price, plus new works by other contemporary artists.
