London Exhibitions in February 2011

There are always plenty of things to do in London, and February is no exception, with exhibitions that include The Titanic London Exhibition at the O2 Bubble, Food Glorious Food at the Victoria and Albert Museum of Childhood, the art of Anish Kapoor in Kensington Gardens, and Drawing Fashion at the Design Museum.

There is definitely something for everyone this month in London, and these are just a handful of the many events that are taking place in the metropolis.

For anyone who is interested in fashion, this is a unique collection of illustrations from some of the top fashion houses, including Chanel, Dior, Comme de Garcons, and covers the 20th and 21st centuries.

The collection not only includes illustrations by some fo the greats, like Lepape, Gruau, Antonio, Mats Gustafson, but also film clips, music and photographs that reflect how fashion has evolved with the changing social and cultural changes over the years.

Anish Kapoor in Kensington Gardens

This is an exhibition of some of the best works by Anish Kapoor and is in conjunction with the Serpentine Gallery in London.

The exhibition, which is free for visitors to Kensington Gardens, is a collection of stainless steel mirrored sculptures, which reflect the light from the surrounding trees and buildings to create new imagery.

Kensington Gardens covers 275 acres, and as well as formal avenues of trees and ornamental gardens, it includes Kensington Palace, the Albert Memorial, Peter Pan statue and Serpentine Gallery.

Food Glorious Food Exhibition

This is a wonderful exhibition about food, how we grow it, prepare it and eat it, and is a great educational experience for children of all ages.

As well as plenty of information on food itself, the exhibition has a collection of labour saving gadgets, and some collectible toys related to food, including a Nuremberg Kitchen (circa 1800) and a Tri-ang milk float from the 1960's.

For the grown ups, the exhibition will bring back memories of being told to "eat your greens", of school dinners, and there are a variety of hands-on exhibits for children and adults alike.

Journey back in time to 15^th April 1912 and experience the maiden voyage of the Titanic through more than 300 artifacts recovered from the wreck on seven expeditions that have taken place since it's discovery in 1985.

Visitors to the exhibit receive a unique replica boarding pass for the Titanic, and can walk through reconstructions of various parts of the great ship, including third class cabins, the cargo hold and the boiler room.
