London's 2008 Day After Thanksgiving Sales

After Thanksgiving dinner, you want to do one of two things: Sleep or shop. For those inclined toward the latter, here is my latest report on shopping in London. If Thanksgiving bargains is what you are specifically after then I have reccomended some very specific shops that London quality shopping has to offer, first I've started close to home then I've branched of into the central hub of London's shopping areas. I have provided links to the various stores and have even included a link to a site that introduces you to London shops at much greater detail than I could ever do here, If you follow the links you'll be informed or reminded of shopping in London. Suggested are some of the best places to find bargains in this city. This article was specifically wrote on November the 22nd on what you call the day after Thanksgiving. So here you have 'TK Maxx' with some great closing deals, then 'Marks & Spencer' another considerably Liberal shop, 'Fortnum & Mason' (the creme de la creme) for hampers, 'Lilly Whites' for your sports gear and finally 'Selfridges'.

So firstly shopping closer to where I live is much easier because I don't have to hop on and of a train an Bus I can just get a bus straight there, usually the 230 bus goes direct to Wood Green which is classed as North London. Wood Green like many big cities now has a large shopping centre. In this shopping centre you will find a...

For men they have leather bomber jackets for sale at up to 60% of because it's winter then it's a good idea to buy something warm. They also have duffle jackets at 30% of, some of these prices are starting at £39.95. on Kids toys again they have products at 60% of the original marked price. You have to look carefully, sometimes it's good to bring a calculator or if you have a mobile phone you can calculate the equation yourself. If it's wrong then speak the manager he's very helpful. Same goes for any loose threads on clothes or tatty boxes with the toys chances are you'll get more knocked of your sale price, however in one instance of this the coat was so expensive instead of offering a large discount on a noticeable green stain on the shoulder he told me the story about sending the product back to the maker, know this one? Me neither I suggested to the manager that he send the jackets back that mysteriously all had the same green stain (It was a creme coloured suede jacket). I then suggested to the manager that he employ a decent dry-cleaner, he smiled thanked me, then offered £15 less than the ten pound he'd originally offered. However I wanted the jacket for £50, the labeled price was £215 anyway I'm sure you know the result, however I have had luck in the past using similar tactical principles. Tip is don't badger them listen to what there saying and repeat back what they have just offered. Tip is if you get a great offer make sure it's from the horses mouth, the owner or the manager, because if not your going to have to go through the whole process again with a newer member of staff at the checkout.

Online they are offering up to 60% discount on clothes through a voucher system (be very sceptical)

'Marks and Spencer' in Oxford Street have two stores one at Marble Arch side of Oxford Street and the other is nearer to Oxford Tube station called the Pantheon and it was here they had great reductions on foods and fish. Some of the jersey's were priced well and they had a good spread of second priced shoes.

Wikimap of Marks&Spencer of it's location with a historical list of the companies history.

Fortnum & Mason have been trading on Piccadilly since 1707.

They are offering all kinds of hampers here's one of my favourites (and believe you me Fortnum and Mason are quality). Here's an example of why: I was at a London souvenir stall selling postcards, magnetic fridge magnets, money boxes and pencil cases on Piccadilly Circus when a man surprisingly looking like David Hasselhoff approached me to ask " Can you tell me the way to Fortnum and Masons". Need I say more, everybody who come to London go here. If your on a budget get the crackers, then you can walk home with the groovy blue bag in style. Just look out for the fancy flashing lights and the operatic theme's in the window. Afterward you can relax with a nice pot of tea at 'The Ritz', which is practically next door to Fortnum and Mason.

The Burlington Hamper

Priced at £250 it's an absolute steal.

Lilly Whites in Piccadilly sells a phenomenal range of sports wear and casual clothes that always have some sort of sale on. opposite the Eros (the statue of the man firing his arrow of Love towards this store, it has many levels and if you like sports wear then you should be fine in here, most people generally are in this store.

I had a root around Selfridges and managed to find some reduced cologne's and animal additive free deodoriser rubs, that were reduced by up to 20% it's always worth a goosey gander in here, however be warned if your afraid of heights then don't travel by escalator, it has at least five floors so don't say you haven't been warned.
