Lonestar Climbs to the Top of the Mountain with "Mountains" CD

A Must for Country Music Fans

Lead singer Richie McDonald has done it again. The title track of "Mountains" just like Lonestar's previous hits "Mr. Mom", "Already There" and "My Front Porch Looking In", reaches out, grabs your heart and pulls it in. The first time I saw the video on Country Music Television, before the cd was even in stores, I sat down and bawled my eyes out.

"Mountains" is an up-beat song that will have you dancing along as he tells the story of a single mother working the graveyard shift at the local I-Hop to put her son through college and the Army Private, who loses his leg in the war. Both of them have victories with the son's graduation and the amputee finishing a marathon after getting a prosthesis. (If you haven't seen the video...look for it, it's definately worth your time). The chorus tells of the world not being fair, but God giving us mountains so we can learn how to climb.

I put the album at the top of my Christmas list, and sure enough, one of my children got it for me. I wasn't disappointed. What I was...was surprised! It turns out Mountains is not the only song added to my list of favorites!

"Nothing to Prove" is an anthem that every man in America should sing to the woman in his life! It's a wonderful tribute, in true Lonestar style) to Mom's and wives. It talks about just getting away from the stress, laying our head on his shoulder and being ourselves. Because our men already know us...and we have nothing to prove! It's the perfect love song.

"Thought it was You" will hit the mark for everyone who's ever loved and lost, but can't let go. You know the one...your "What if..." relationship. It's a song that will have you diving into the past and wondering if you still have a phone number for that certain someone that you thought you would spend forever with...

"Hey God" is another Richie McDonald offering. And probably the most thought provoking song I've heard in years. If you have faith and are a praying person...you seem to go to God when the times get hard: when your brother or something unexpected happens. But we forget to stop and bow our heads and say thank you, when we come out on the other side. McDonald reminds us that God lost someone He truly loved when He sent his Son to us. His ways and plans are sometimes mysterious and hard to understand, but His grace is always there.

"Cowboy Girl" has awesome guitar rips and a catchy tune about a Texas girl with her blue jeans, Chevy pick-up, cowboy boots, and Stetson hat. To catch her, you'd better know how to ride, because she's wilder than the fourth of July and a certified Southern Fried Friday Night Queen. Better watch out though...cause this one's got a double barreled shot gun next to the bed.

"Always in the Band" is the finale to the album. It was written as a tribute to the wives and families of Lonestar, who are always there when the boys get back home. Wow. That about sums it up. If you've ever had a job that you've had to leave your family behind, even for a little while, this song will speak to you. It's also a thank you for those "Thousand waving Flames" that are the fans that come out for each and every show.

The fans are why the members of Lonestar keep on doing what they do so well. Singing to our hearts.
