Long Beach Marriott Hotel

A Great Place to Stay

The Long Beach Marriott Hotel, located at 4700 Airport Plaza in Long Beach California, is more than just a comfortable place to stay when visiting the area. The newly remodeled hotel has really stepped up their service and amenities when catering to the traveler, be it for business or pleasure.

The Lobby is open and spacious. Upon entering you are greeted by floor to celiling windows that offer a view of the tropical landscaping that surrounds the pool and water ways located just outside. The hotel Front Desk Staff is just to your right, and are more than helpful and courteous checking you in for your stay.

Upon arriving at our 6th floor room, the bellhop was quick to point out how the new lighting worked, where the coffee service was located and made sure our TV remote control was readily available. Our room faced the runway of the Long Beach Airport, and even with the big jets taking off from so close, we hardly noticed them at all.

The beds were made with upscale linens that were soft and comfortable. The down comforters were a very nice touch. Even though were there during unseasonably warm November weather, we were very comfortable under the covers.

Spa quality towels awaited us in the shower area that was separate from the sink and dressing area. I especially liked that "real" glasses were offered, instead of plastic or Styrofoam cups, and the water fixtures were easy to use - no one had to ask me how to turn on the shower! The closet was large and well lit, with full sized hangers as well as an ironing board and steam iron. They also offered dry cleaning service.

Another nice touch were the Bath & Body products supplied in the shower and sink area. The Aromatherapy Line was very nice, especially considering that during our stay, LA and Orange Counties were experiencing severe fires and the smoke that hung the air clung to everything.

The coffee service was stored in the dresser in the main part of the room, with ceramic coffee cups and ample supplies of sugar and creamers. Tea was also offered along with regular and decaffeinated coffee. While it was a little heavy to pull out from its storage space, the full sized coffee maker was a treat compared to some of those mini-coffee makers that some hotels offer. It fit easily on the desk, where a plug was available.

They offered in room high speed internet access, with cable modem connections, which I did not use as I had not brought my computer with me for such a short stay, just two nights, visiting with family and friends.

The TV was a little frustrating to use. Instead of being able to turn on local channels and just surf like we do at home, changing the channel meant dealing with a menu system that was annoying; especially at night when we just wanted to know what the local weather was going to be like the next day. We also wanted to keep up on the fire situation that was happening to the east of use during our stay, in case we needed to take another highway home.

For the money, $134.00 per night plus taxes for a Friday and Saturday night stay, the Long Beach Marriott provided us with more than just a place to rest. We enjoyed the room and our stay enough to make it the place we will stay during our next trip to Long Beach.
