Alaska is know for a few things cold, oil, fishing, and animals. With such a small populations you do not really expect much from the largest state in the union but travelers to Anchorage Alaska would be surprised to find that in Anchorage Alaska they can find one of the best burgers in the country and at least the best burger in the state. They can find this great burger at the Long Branch Salon.

The Long Branch Salon is located at 1737 East Diamond Boulevard, Anchorage, Alaska. Anchorage may be the biggest city in the entire state but that is not saying to much. However one thing that it does have is this great place to eat.

The Long Branch Salon is probably named after the famous Long Branch Salon in Dodge City where many famous cowboys used to hang out. However this is not the same one. The Long Branch Salon in Anchorage Alaska is a classic dive bar. One thing that sets it out above other dive bars in the area or in the US is that it has one of the best burgers anywhere.

The buns are homemade on site. The buns do not have their own special name but are a mix of a ciabatta and a sourdough bread which alone makes the Long Branch Salon special for having made their own delicious kind of bread. Whatever burger you get here comes with this great home made bun.

While any of the burgers at the Long Branch Salon are good and large the most famous is the Bacon Cheeseburger. It may not be that original but who cares when it taste so good. The one down side of eating at the Long Branch Salon is that it is expensive. The Long Branch Salon gives you a burger like the Bacon Cheeseburger for $11. That is pricey for a hamburger in a dive bar. The good thing is that they do give you tons of food. You could get about the same food from McDonald's for about half the price but it would not even be half as good.
