Long Island Attractions - the Riverhead Raceway is There to Fulfill All of Your Racing Needs
A Race Track for People of All Ages
In this article I am reviewing, analyzing, and describing on of Long Island's most underrated attractions - The Riverhead Raceway. The Riverhead Raceway doesn't look at that great at first glance. The raceway merely looks like a track containing numerous bleachers, a few concession stands, and a crowd containing some unusual people. When I say that, I don't mean that everyone is weird, but there are a few people I personally saw that were... a little "off".
Racing gets very competitive, and you'll start feeling the competition as soon as you see the green flag being waved in the air. Instantaneously after you see the waving of this green flag you'll hear the roaring engines of upward to 40 cars.
The Riverhead Raceway holds many different racing events that include super pro truck racing, 4 cylinder cars, 6 cylinder cars, 8 cylinder cars, and more. Ontop of those races, there are also other entertaining events that boggle the mind. For example, in an event that I personally saw, small cars would drive halfway around the track, drive up onto a small ramp, and try flipping themselves over sideways. If they did a complete roll they got 5 points, and each car got three tries (if they even made it that far). Of course, if a car looks as if it cannot perform any longer the staff will not allow the racer to go again - safety first.
Each race takes a good amount of time, but it's all in good run. There's always the risk of accidents, peel-outs, and tire-losses, but that's part of the sport in general. Having a friend or family member racing also makes the competition much more intense. I watched two people I knew do a few races, and you cannot peel your eyes off of the action for almost anything.
If you're itchin` for some good races, and your on Long Island, I highly suggest spending a day at the Riverhead Raceway. I also highly suggest that you bring sun screen, as you're almost always in the sun, and you will get burnt. Tickets aren't too costly - maybe $25ish - but it's worth it.
