Ho, boy. (Pun intended)
Back in 1992, at the age of 17, Amy Fisher shot Mary Joe Buttafuoco, the wife of Joey Buttafuoco, with whom she'd been having an affair since age 16, in the head. Mary Jo recovered, but with paralysis on one side of her face and deafness in one ear. Amy Fisher pled guilty to one count of assault, spent seven years in jail, and was released in 2004. Joey Buttafuoco was later convicted of statutory rape, although he always denied having an affair with Amy Fisher, and spent four months in jail. Mary Jo took him back (sheesh!), but eventually divorced him.
I was particularly engrossed in this case because, in my misspent youth, I got myself into a relationship with a separated but not divorced older man who broke my heart when he returned to his wife, and when the Amy Fisher case emerged, it was eerie how much she resembled me at 19, and how much Joey and Mary Jo resembled the other couple. When it broke on "Hard Copy," people who knew me called up laughing hysterically. Well, at least I didn't shoot anybody!
Since Amy Fisher was released from jail, she has written a book and a column, and worked as an "exotic dancer." Amazingly, she and Joey Buttafuoco still keep in touch. In 2007, Amy Fisher and her husband Lou Bellera made a private sex tape, which Bellera "leaked" to Red Light District Video of Los Angeles, selling 200,000 copies. Amy Fisher was upset, but a "friend" in the adult industry "made her see things in a new light," telling her "They say horrible things about you already." Nice.
This summer, it broke that she has signed a deal with Dreamzone Entertainment to star in four adult films before the end of 2011, with one released on September 30th titled, "Deep Inside Amy Fisher." (Roll eyes. Original.) Fisher appears in four scenes, opposite "actors" Dale DaBone (groan), Marcus London, Tommy Gunn (groan again) and Lisa Ann, famed for her portrayal of Sarah Palin in "Nailin' Paylin," a 2008 porn parody. (I'd kinda like to SEE that.)
Amy Fisher says that it took making a porn film "...to come to terms with people's perceptions of who she is." She told AOL News, "For 20 years, people have been thinking of me as this crazy, wild 16-year-old who had no control of what was said about her. Now at least they can say that she looks good and pays her taxes." She claims that finances are her main reason for making porn films. Uh, how about just getting a normal job and raising your kids, for God's sake!
Amy Fisher's husband is no better. What kind of man approves of his wife starring in porn films? He was evidently "proud" that, although Amy is straight, she was able to do a lesbian scene. "He's an editor and knows when I'm acting and when I'm not, and he was impressed," she said. Of Amy's male costar, Bellera bragged that, "I'm better than him." Boy, don't you just wanna give him a big hug?
I think it's so sad when people can't rise above the mistakes they make in their youth. Yes, the Long Island Lolita became an international news story, but people would have given her credit for making something of herself if she'd have put it behind her and straightened out her life. She's lucky she only spent seven years in jail, if she'd been older, it would have been much longer. Instead of being grateful, and fading into obscurity and trying to make a decent life, this mother of three is going to debase herself and humiliate her children (well, wouldn't YOU be), by making porn films. With the approval of her husband.
It's really nauseating, don't you think?

Post a CommentGiving in to stereotypical behavior is just sad in this case. Poor poor Amy. Well, not for long, apparently, lol. This was a great read and love your style, thank you! :)
Wow... and I thought she couldn't make herself look any worse.
What a bunch of low class morons!
i think this young woman is just in need of too much attention. Horrible way to raise children.
Wow....just wow!
Having a family member in the sex industry, I'm usually bothered when sex workers are disparaged. In this case, I think Amy Fisher is contributing to spreading stereotypes and misinformation. She is doing this to garner attention and publicity, and doesn't care if her publicity harms those in the sex industry.
Oh jeez, I am sorry I used the "W" word, I got a little too into trying to write a short but strong comment that I let that slip. Sorry!
Wow. How come I'm not surprised? I forgot about her.
Yet, somehow, I'm not all that surprised.
Yes, I think it's nauseating. Why don't they just come right out and say, 'We'll do anything for money.'
