Smokin' Al's Famous BBQ Joint was rated Long Island's #1 BBQ restaurant by Zagat's for 2 years in a row. They are famous for their exceptional slow cooked meats, smoked and flavorful, the way you expect it. The menu is priced reasonably, so it is always busy. Weekends are the busiest though.
Smokin' Al's Famous BBQ Joint has generously sized barbecue sandwiches, smoked ribs and chicken and a variety of sauces and homemade side dishes. They even offer cocktails, wine, beer and martinis. They offer sit down eating or take out food. It is hard to decide what to get at Smokin' Al's Famous BBQ Joint because if you like barbecue, everything looks good, from the chili burger to the swiss blue cheese burger to the monster size rack of beef or pork ribs to the smoked sausage sandwiches. And if that is not enough to choose from, there are several pulled sandwiches from pork, beef and brisket. Al's Famous Bow Wow is a big half pound hot dog and the BBQ Spud is an oversized piping hot baked potato filled with your favorite barbecue meat and topped with butter, cheese, sour cream and chives. You can also get a meatless BBQ spud too (which costs less). Appetizers include wings, hush puppies, barbecue shrimp, nachos, home made crock pot onion soup, and Al's famous chili.
There is also a children's menu for kids under 10 years old, which includes
mac and cheese, small hamburgers, cheese sticks, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken fingers and hot dogs. For adults who prefer to eat lighter there are some salads to choose from including a caeser salad and BBQ salads as well as a house salad.
Smokin' Al's Famous BBQ Joint also has a large selection of side dishes from coleslaw and collard greens to corn on the cob, garlic mashed potatoes, sweet potato french fries, baked beans and corn bread.
If you're dying for great barbecue then take a drive to Smokin' Al's Famous BBQ Joint and you won't be disappointed.

Famous Dave's Barbecue
716 Smithtown Bypass
Smithtown, NY 11787

Famous Dave's is legendary and its presence in a number of major cities proves it. I have been to a few Famous Dave's restaurants in various cities across the country, and they are all decorated quite differently. Some have more of a lodge style decor, and others look more like an underground subway with the memorabilia and urban decor. The Famous Dave's Barbecue in Smithtown is more of a cabin style look and feel. Eating at Famous Dave's Barbecue is a roadhouse experience, from the music to the deep south flavor. Walking in the restaurant you are immediately overwhelmed with the great smells of smoked barbecue foods. The table has a variety of sauces to tantalize you and you'll probably want to experiment with them all to find your favorite.
Famous Dave's Barbecue has been around for more than a quarter of a century, but it finally made its way to Long Island. The Famous Dave's barbecue sauces are so famous they have made their way into grocery stores for their unique and zesty sassy flavors. For appetizers you can order a sampler platter with ribs, wings, chicken tenders, catfish fingers and onion strings. Or you can order BBQ or buffalo style wings in your choice of hot or mild. But be sure you can handle an appetizer because the meals are generously sized and you'll probably need a doggy bag because of this.
Famous Dave's Barbecue offers a variety of salads and soups and barbecue sandwiches. The fried catfish is surprisingly good, which I didn't expect at a meat oriented restaurant. Famous Dave's Barbecue offers a variety of combo platters if you are having a hard time deciding whether you want ribs or chicken or pork or fish or wings or hot links.
Everything is reasonably priced and the service is good. Expect to use a few wetnaps if you are eating ribs, because it will be a down home messy experience. There is also a special menu for kids 10 and under. You can get take-out or dine in. Save room for dessert if you have a sweet tooth, because it all looks so good.
