Longhorns Topple the Buckeyes in Fiesta Bowl

A Last Minute Touchdown Pass by McCoy Snatches Victory from Ohio State

Last night's Fiesta Bowl saw a great comeback play by the Texas Longhorns as they scored a game-winning touchdown in the final 16 seconds against the Ohio State Buckeyes. Having lost out on their chance at a spot in the national title game, the Longhorns were determined to make the most of the Fiesta Bowl. According to an article in the Associated Press, this victory could give them an edge with voters towards getting that chance back.

With Ohio State dominating the game for most of the first half and Texas only managing to salvage a field goal from a terrible pass from Heisman Trophy runner up McCoy, the Longhorns went into the locker room feeling lost. The coaches and team must have worked a miracle during the half time break, because the team that came out was not the same as the one that went in. On their first possession McCoy scored on a 14-yard touchdown run to put the Longhorns ahead, they then followed that up with a pass to Cosby in the end zone 7 minutes later, putting the Longhorns up 17-6. This is perhaps why McCoy was a Heisman runner up, he is so confident that losing is not in his vocabulary.

But the game wasn't over yet as Ohio State came back with 2:05 minutes left in the game, to take the game back with the score at 21-17 after a 15-yard touchdown run by Dan Herron, showing everyone why the Buckeyes are national championship bound. Just when everyone thought the game was over, McCoy throws a powerful 26-yard touchdown pass to Quan Cosby topping a 78-yard drive with a game winning touchdown. Cheering fans and players gathered in front of the Texas band to sing The Eyes of Texas in a triumphant celebration.

Given that their only chance now is to make the Associated Press Top 25, the Texas Longhorns made a huge comeback win and are certain that this will be the game that impresses the voters enough to secure their spot in the playoff series.
