Ohio's Hidden Vacation Treasure

Big Daddy H.G.
If you're looking to vacation in Ohio and somewhere to really get away from it all, there is no place better than Long's Family Retreat. This hidden treasure is tucked away from the hustle and bustle in scenic Latham, Ohio. My family and I have been visiting this beautiful place for over 20 years. They are family owned and operated and they always make you feel like you are a part of their family each time you visit.

The resort offers over 400 acres of family camping fun. They have 300 sites of hookups for campers and RVs'. They also have wooded tent sites. They offer sites that are lakeside or tucked away in the wooded area. They have a laundry and shower area that is always kept very clean. The prices are very reasonable for camping. They range from $20 - $30 per day depending on what extras you require. The camping season runs from April 1 to Nov. 1. There is a camp store near the entrance if you forgot or run out of something. They have just about everything you will need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

If you are not into the camping experience they offer 24 rental cabins in a variety of sizes and styles. They offer two different types of cabins, camping and deluxe. The camping cabins range in price from $70 - $90 per night. They are air conditioned with a bathroom, sitting area, and kitchen. They are complete with a fire ring, picnic table, and grill. The bathroom includes a toilet and lavatory. There is a campground shower nearby which is always very clean. The camping cabins do not have hot water. Guests also must provide their own linens, towels, and cooking utensils.

The deluxe cabins range in price from $125 - $140 per night. Each unit is fully furnished with air conditioning and heating. They are available for rent year round. They have a full bathroom including a full size shower and tub. The kitchens are fully stocked with pots and pans. There is a range/oven, large refrigerator, and microwave. Everything you need just like the comforts of home. They do not have linens, pillows or towels.

The resort features a wonderful waterpark with a swimming area and beach. It is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There are many activities to enjoy for the whole family. There are 2 water slides, and a diving platform in the middle of the lake. They also have Go-Karts, a climbing wall, tennis courts, and a variety of fun activities for all ages. The snack bar located on the beach has good food and is reasonably priced. There are lifeguards on duty for your family's safety as well.

If it is fishing you're into they have a 20 acre fully stocked lake. There is also an indoor recreation room with pool tables and a variety of video games. There is an 18 hole miniature golf course as well if you want to test your putting skills.

If you have little children there is no shortage of activities for them to enjoy as well as the big folks. They can take a ride on the kiddie go-karts or bumper boats. They also have a moonbounce and a splash pad as well. That is the best thing about Long's is they have something for everyone. If you're in the area and just want to go for the day. They have plenty of picnic areas available to setup your cookout

To conclude, Long's Retreat Family Resort is a fun, affordable place for the entire family to enjoy. This hidden treasure is certainly off the beaten path, but well worth the effort to get there. My family and I have had some of the best times of our lives at Long's. I hope you give them a try and make some lasting memories for your family as well.

This sounds like a place that I would enjoy going with my family. I have read several reviews on it and I will check out the website today. I may try to go there soon. It sounds as though they have a lot of activities for children.
