Look

Another Chance At..

David Carr

Maybe it's just
A fleeting glance
That truly means
Nothing at all

Or maybe it's just
A futile chance
For my winter to
Merge into fall

It' just my luck
That what I see
Isn't there
When you walk away

And maybe
It's just wishful thinking
As you leave
And I turn to say

When I see
That look in you eyes
My heart races with feelings a new

When I see
The look you give to me
I get blinded by the greens and blues
And I hope that these feelings are true…..

I know I could be wrong
And I know there's much to say
The way things seem to go
I try and take them day by day

And I know
That maybe
My mind is a blur
Break up so near to my heart

And I understand
Your trepidation
Doubts and fears
Right from the start

But when I see
The look you give me
My/your fears
Seem to wash away

When I see
The look you give
I am tempted
To hope that you'll say
Maybe this can happen someday

Not sure how this came about
I can't comprehend and
I am sure you feel the same

I'm glad that it did
Like a scared little kid
Maybe fates the one to blame

When I witness
The look you give me
At that moment
You are all that I need

When I see
The look you give me
You become that book in Braille
That I want to read (thanks DRH)

Taking it slow
Has never been my style
And that explains why I always fall

But if taking it slow
Means letting you in
Then maybe I can after all

Because I'm filled with a hope
I can't readily explain
And your idiosyncrasies
Drive me insane

A vocabulary
As large as the sun and the moon
And a confident swagger
From September to June

For many that's all they see

A smile that says maybe
Eyes all a glow
A touch from your hand
Like an old picture show

Is the stuff ending up in my dreams

It's all part of the look you give to me………
