Look After You by the Fray

R.A. Riter
The song Look After You was the third song released from the Colorado band The Fray from their first album How to Save a Life. It was released on August 20, 2007 after a very successful release of the song How to Save a Life and was followed by the release of All at Once. Isaac Slade, the lead singer of the Fray, said that the song was written about this girlfriend at the time, Anna, when she was living in Australia. Isaac and Anna eventually went on to marry. This song was recorded in 2005 in Bloomington, Indiana.

This song has been featured on a few television shows and movies. It has been used for the television series Intervention during the third season. It has also been heard during episodes of Cold Case, Ghost Whisperer, The Hills, One Tree Hill, Journeyman, Moonlight, and Bones. It was also used in the 2008 movie Jumper. It was also used in the unaired pilot for the television series Women's Murder Club.

Although it was expected to be a big hit, it never reached this status. The song got as high as fifty-ninth on the Billboard Hot 100. This was the first song released of The Fray not to break the top 40. It did reach twelveth on the U.S. Billboard Hot Adult Top 40 Tracks and thirty-first on the Top 40 Mainstream. When The Fray sings this song live, a small interlude after the chorus allows Slade to sing the refrains from a few different songs. Some refrains he has sung during this chorus has been Wonderall by Oasis, You Are So Beautiful by Joe Cocker, or You're Beautiful by James Blunt.

Although a music video was planned for this song, one was never made for it. It was confirmed to be shot in February 2007, with Chris Mills as the director. As time passed, they released the song All At Once and released a video for that song, so a video for Look After You is highly unlikely.

While the song on the album is 4:28 long, the radio edit shortens the song by 26 seconds. It was written by Isaac Slade and Joe King, while Mike Flynn and Aaron Johnson produced the song. On the album, Look After You is the seventh song, being played after Heaven Forbid but before Hundred. This alternative rock single was also released as a digital download.
