Look and Feel Hot While Pregnant with Fashion-Forward Maternity Wear

Maternity Chic Takes Oscars Center Stage with Pregnant Natalie Portman in Rodarte

Em Robbins
Natalie Portman turned many heads at the Oscars when she arrived looking not only incredibly pregnant, but ridiculously stunning as usual. Portman grabbed attention with her gorgeous Rodarte dress that gave maternity chic a whole new meaning. Givenchy is also a hot ticket for fashionable garb for the high class and pregnant.

Though many can't afford Rodarte and Givenchy prices, they want to look just as good. As usual, the fashion gods have ponied up some sexily similar looks to Portman's Rodarte gown at the Oscars that lack the serious ouch at the cash register.

Victoria Beckham Fall 2011 Collection

Victoria Beckham is a fashion icon, so you know that when she gets pregnant, she will rock the expectant maternity fashion better than any other celebrity on the runway. Though Victoria Beckham claims this collection was designed before she knew she was pregnant, the loose shapes and bold colors of her Fall 2011 offer a perfect lineup of shapes that accentuate a fit lady's baby bump.

Renee Maternity and Nursing Dress

With a reasonable price tag that is under $100, the Renee Maternity and Nursing Dress has a feel for basic style while drawing attention to the beauty of the pregnant belly. Though this dress is somewhat basic for a pregnant lady who wants to be recognized, it can easily be bumped up in the pizazz department with a few bold and well-placed accessories like a faux-fur coat or a bauble laden necklace.

Manhattan Maternity Mini-Dress

The X-draping at the front of this maternity dress adds a touch of high-class style while providing a comfortable and attractive shape over a pregnant belly. Worn in cream, the Manhattan Maternity dress looks like a high-end maternity dress from top designers, but is much easier on the wallet.

Olian Empire Maternity Waist Dress

This flowing dress which ties at the waist has a shape that is somewhat reminiscent of what fine ladies might have worn in the Greek days of old. In its basic form, this dress could pass as a casual dressy look for a day out running errands or doing high-end shopping. It could just as easily be worn with some basic dress-up accessories for an evening of fine dining and fashion.

Getting an attractive gown that accentuates pregnancy can be one way to get over the frumpy feeling that comes with being an expectant mother. Choosing the right dress for a night out on the town is key in dressing up a baby bump to look as beautiful as it feels. Some of these maternity gowns provide the added bonus of converting to a nursing gown for expectant mothers who don't want to have to throw out all of their maternity fashion once the pregnancy ends.

Maternity fashions are so much nicer than when I wore them in the late 60's!
