On your invitation it should state what type of dress to wear whether it be formal, semi formal, casual, business casual or dressy casual. There should also be a phone number so you can reach the coordinator of The Reunion. If you don't know what dress casual means just call him or her up and ask what they might be wearing to give you an idea of what you should be wearing. It's better to go to your reunion overdressed and then underdressed. Make sure you're comfortable in the outfit you wear right down to your undergarments to all of your accessories. If you need to wear something like a girdle make sure it is the proper fit and comfortable. The salesperson at the store your purchasing from will more than be willing to help you fit into the perfect girdle and dress.
The shoes you wear and accessories should complement your outfit not drowned it out. A necklace some earrings and a nice handbag is more than sufficient for your accessories, something to note is that your handbag does not need to match your outfit or your shoes nowadays. That is one thing that may have changed since you've seen your old schoolmates last. Your shoes will probably be the biggest comfort zone you have to deal with at the reunion. If your shoes are not a comfortable fit it could make you even more unrelaxed and take the once "bright smile" right off of your face after a long dance or walk around the gym.
Make sure you bring some business cards and some pictures along with you so you can show your classmates yours while they are showing you theirs. Look for familiar faces and startup conversations if you're feeling a little awkward remember that they too are probably feeling the same way so it might be up to you to strike up that conversation.
When that invitation arrives in your mailbox you may not be ready but that is no excuse not to attend. There are so many ways to prepare yourself for a high school reunion, but the most important thing is that you attend your high school reunion.
