Looking for a Cheap Vacation Destination for Spring Break 2010?

Check Out Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Looking for a great spring break destination this year that won't break the bank? With the economy still in a rut it may not feasible to splurge on your dream vacation this spring. So why not consider a place that may cost a little less but is still an escape from the ordinary and will still provide you with plenty of good times - My choice for spring break 2010 is Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic.

Whether you're a college student, a family with children, a young couple, or traveling solo, Punta Cana has something for everyone. Punta Cana has the advantage of being relatively close to the United States ( around a 2 and a half hour flight from southern Florida), having beautiful white sand beaches, and having the turquoise-blue water that is typical to the Caribbean. Great resort deals are also widely available for Punta Cana especially during the dates of typical spring break vacations. My party ended up staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana simply for the fact that it cost amongst the least and yet was still a highly rated and well reviewed establishment. As an all-inclusive resort all our meals, entertainment and rooms were included in one price and while certainly not amazing, we enjoyed the above average food, and mediocre rooms (albeit we spent most of the day out in the sun).

Enjoying Punta Cana is easy to do. Literally the minute you fly in you'll be surrounded by everything you'd expect in the Caribbean, even the airport is comprised of thatched roofed buildings. Whether you'd like to go diving, go hiking, go boating, go clubbing, learn to surf, golf, or just relax on the beach Punta Cana can accommodate you. One activity I highly recommend is going buggying - our entire group rented buggies for an afternoon and had a blast cruising the many dunes surrounding Punta Cana. If you're college aged there are many bars and clubs both on the beach and in town - the resort chain Iberostar has around 3 resorts in Punta Cana, each with their own club which we visited each night.

This is just a brief overview of Punta Cana, there is a wealth of information regarding resorts, activities and travel tips on Tripadvisor's Punta Cana site: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g147293-Punta_Cana_Dominican_Republic-Vacations.html
