Looking for Coffee in Ozark, Alabama? Try the Daily Perk

The Daily Perk is a small coffee shop located just off Highway 231 in Ozark, AL. The staff are friendly, and almost always greet you with a smile as soon as you enter the door; comfortable couches are arranged around the place, as well as a handful of tables and chairs in the middle, so there's plenty of places to sit. The atmosphere is very nice: it feels like walking into your own living room, only with a barista to serve coffee for you.

The coffee tastes great, and the shop offers a good deal: buy a large coffee, and you have free refills for the duration of your stay. In addition to a standard flavor (available in regular and decaf), the Daily Perk offers a coffee of the day flavor with a surprising variety, including Caramel Cream, Southern Pecan, Jamaican Me Crazy, and more. The prices are very reasonable: the large coffee costs $1.75. The baristas do a good job of making sure the coffee is fresh; I've never had a cup that had grown cold.

In addition to coffee, the Daily Perk provides a variety of blended iced drinks, including smoothies (with a choice of eight fruit flavors) and iced coffee drinks. The cookies and cream blended coffee drink is particularly good, and decently affordable, at $3.50. Also, try the chai tea: it's some of the best I've had. If you're hungry, eat before visiting, as the Daily Perk doesn't offer much of a menu: a few biscottis and pastries are the only choices.

If you plan on being in the shop for several hours, be sure to bring some form of entertainment; if the shop ever holds special events, I haven't seen them advertised, and while they have a handful of magazines and books strewn about the place, you're better off bringing something of your own. That said, the shop does have a television that is usually turned to a news channel like CNN or to something like the Discovery channel, and the Daily Perk also offers free WiFi: the quiet atmosphere makes it a wonderful place to study, especially for students of the local community college, and it's a great place to gather with old friends and talk.

If you have a laptop, don't worry: there's plenty of power outlets throughout the store, and a number of tables are arranged nearby, so you should have no problem finding a place to plug in and charge your batteries.

Since it's located in a small shopping center, it's fairly easy to find parking nearby, though patrons of the sports grill around the corner take many of the parking spots if you come in the evenings. The shop's hours are a bit odd: The Daily Perk is closed on Mondays and Sundays, but is open until 8pm the other days of the week.
