First, buy a great pair of jeans. You don't need the $200 pair either. Go to the Gap, they have never steered me wrong and their jeans fit and look great. They also come in plenty of sizes. Your average pair of jeans at the Gap should run about $50.
Second, buy yourself plain white v-neck tees and tanks. Go to your local Target, Walmart, etc and pick up Hanes or Fruit of a Loom men's tees and tanks. You usually get 3 to a pack and they are super afforable and fit great!
Third, buy a great pair flats. Flats are so right now and are so comfortable. Ballet flats from Sam and Libby are always a great buy. They are under $50 and sold at Zappos.com and Kohl's. Shoe stores like Aldo, Nine West and Steve Madden are also very fashionable, inexpensive and have tons of looks and colors to choose from.
Fourth, buy some great accessories. Besides shoes, accessories totally complete your outfit. With stores like Joyce Leslie, Forever 21 and H&M you can get a some fabulous jewelry for the price of lunch and Starbucks. Grab some long necklaces, bangles and a few pairs of earrings this way you can alternate them. A pair of fake diamond earrings are also a must-have purchase. You can wear them with anything and no one can tell the difference. Oh, and don't forget to purchase a fabulous pair of sunglasses. The bigger the better!
Fifth, don't forget the handbag. The handbag should be big and easy to carry. Le Sportsac (sold at Bloomingdale's and Macy's) designs fabulous handbags and they come in an array of colors, styles and patterns. The L.L.Bean (LLBean.com) tote bags are always a fashionable classic. The largest one is $32. You can't beat that!
Lastly, get your outfit together. Put on some blush and lip gloss and throw your hair in a messy bun. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes. If it's chilly, add a cute cardigan or shawl right out of your closet.
Now you look effortlessly chic and ready to face the world. Have fun shopping for more effortlessly chic looks!
