So, it's Father's Day and you're broke. Join the club. Recession budgets don't always have a lot of wiggle room but that doesn't mean that you can't make your father feel special with a thoughtful Father's Day gift. After all, some of the best things in life are free, including great Father's Day gifts. Check out this list for great, free Father's Day gifts that will let your dad know you love him.

Set up an RSS Feed for him on Google Reader

Chances are, your dad isn't as internet savvy as you are. Introducing him to the world wide web of information can make a great Father's Day Gift. RSS feeds are great tools for people who's computer knowledge stops at checking email. The feeds can deliver the news, media, comics or pictures that they love to a special Google Reader inbox. And once you've set it up for him, all he'll have to do is click!

Step 1: Navigate to the Google Home Page
On the top of the left hand side of the screen, you will see a list of blue links. Click the link that says "more", and then the link that says "Reader" on the pull down menu.

Step 2: Sign In
The next screen should be the sign in page. Simply click the "Create an account now" link below the sign in box. The great thing about Google Reader is that you don't need to have a Google account to access its features. Simply type in your father's existing email address and create a password.

Step 3: Add RSS Feeds that you think your father will like.
Once you have created an account, a verification email will be sent to your father's email address. You can walk him through the process outlined in detail in the link, or pick feeds that you know he will like to get him started.

Make Him a Comic Strip

If your dad has a sense of humor, consider giving him a comic strip as a Father's Day gift. Thanks to www.stripgenerator.com, you don't have to be an artist to do it. The (free) interface features scores of comic characters, speech bubbles and backgrounds. You could even make your father a complete comic book with a Father's Day theme. Name the characters after family members, or recreate the best outing you've had with your father. Since the software is so simple to use, and the possibilities are endless. When you're done, simply print out the comic book and perhaps a cover page. He'll cherish it forever.

Get Him a Multimedia Father's Day Card

Instead of a regular old Father's Day Card, consider getting the special people in his life to take part in a short Father's Day video message. This idea makes a great Father's Day gift because it is so flexible. For your husband, have the kids decide what they want to contribute: a short ballet recital, play, song or dance. They'll love coming up with ideas. Or, if his parents or children are out of state, send off the video or have them email you a few clips that you can play for him on Father's Day.

Spoil Him

Who says pampering is just for mothers? Sometimes the best Father's Day gift that you can give your father is a little special attention. Start the day by bringing him his favorite breakfast in bed. Pop in a few of his favorite movies or television episodes that you secretly TiVo'd for him. Make him his favorite ridiculously unhealthy meal for dinner. Or, try running him a bubble bath. Turn on his favorite tunes, pile up a stack of his own magazines and promise not to tell anyone how much he enjoyed it.
