Looking for Love

Wiley Vaughn
I've written before of the trials of the amorous teen, looking for love and settling for lust at every opportunity. Lately I've become aware of one reason the kids are having such a hard time making long term connections with possible marriage material, as in suitable husbands and wives. The problem? Too many choices.

Let's face it, Facebook, MySpace, PlentyofFish and other such social networking sites provide teens with way too many choices. Who wants to date Nextdoor Nick or Nell Neighbor when Ardent Arthur and Lola Lovely are a mouse click away? Now most of these hotties aren't available for a Saturday night date, unless you've got a lot of gas money, because they live two states (or more) away. Yet all hot and bothered (insert teen name of choice and sexual preference) would rather talk to the online sex fantasy person, instead of getting a date with the kid next door. Think about this a minute. You've got Troy Boy and Gina Gal drooling all over their keyboards as they eyeball their monitors lustfully, but for the most part, its a colossal waste of energy, because they're never going to meet in person. Really, who would want a digital mate anyway? If long distance relationships are hopeless, imagine the likelihood of such a relationship based strictly on surging hormones. Sexy Sam and Hot Hannah might be a computer couple for a week or two, but both will soon move on to greener pastures, fresh meat, new dudes, newer dudettes or, (gasp !!!) video virgins.

Kids, take some free advice. Get off the computer and start talking to some of the nice people in your neighborhood. You might make a friend, and if you're willing to be decent and apply some time and effort, maybe something more...a mate for life.

I remember teen years of my children, glad I'm not dealing with teens at this time, I didn't have to deal with computers, cell phones, or video games.....yes, I am that old
