Looney Tunes: That's All for Good Folks

Where Have These Popular Cartoon Stars Gone?

Ah, I remember as kids I always enjoyed watching those Looney Tunes cartoon, seeing Bugs Bunny tricking Elmer Fudd, Leghorn beating on the mug, Daffy Duck competing against Bugs Bunny, Wild E. setting traps for Roadrunner, Speedy Gonzales shouting, ehay! To the pussycat, Sylvester trying to catch Tweety while Granny is away, or Porky Pig concluding the show with his famous, Thhhhat's All Folks! comment. Now those days are over, Looney Tunes are now just a solid childhood memory. Why did Looney Tunes end the way it is, let's find out.

Looney Tunes started way back at the time where most of the other popular cartoons were born like Mickey Mouse, Roger Rabbits, Donald Duck, Tom and Jerry, and even Popeye. Most of Looney Tunes cartoon shows also borrowed a few characters from Merry Melodies, a sister show similar to Looney Tunes. Most of the shows features in Looney Tunes are just comedy shows just to make you laugh, but others might make you mad as well in the case if your favorite character were the ones getting bully by the other characters. Since Looney Tunes involve only minor violent and no slang languages, it can be viewed by both adult and children.

Though Looney Tunes were very popular with the young age, not everyone love the comedian cartoons, some judge it by the way it feature towards the American culture, it is also been discussed by many viewers as being too lame and the shows it feature are way too short. Also most of the Looney Tunes shows used similar stunt or re-run but with different characters for example in one show starred Porky Pig and Gabby Goat trying to get a good night sleep to be able to get to work on time on the next day, this show is hilarious until later a similar show aired but this time instead of Gabby Goat, that character was replaced by Daffy Duck; however, the cartoon still process the same. Also some show used the same trick like the show where Bugs Bunny fought a macho professional wrestler, in one scene Bugs let the wrestler hold on to his slinger, then Bugs slowly pull the slinger in distance, equip a rock then vastly shoot the rock right into the wrestler's face knocking him out cold completely.

A similar trick to this was also shown when Bugs Bunny fought the bull. When the bull is sharping his horns, Bugs tied a slinger on his horn, then like the wrestler, walk into the distance by pulling the slinger, place a rock and shoot right into the bull's face. These kinds of trick were repeated many times and because of these, many viewers started seeing the lame and laziness in the director of these cartoons.

Though Looney Tunes had already had two live action movies produced in the box office, the rest of the Looney Tunes cast were way too original, the many newer generation viewers doesn't like the old style look and soon the series as a whole had finally met its end. The final movie, Looney Tunes: Back in Action is an intent to bring back the series, but since it got low ratings at the box office compare to their first film: Space Jam, the interest of bring it back had dropped completely. A second attempt to bring back the show came in the form of Loonatics, a cartoon that runs on the Kids WB channel where many of the newer characters used similar attitudes as the original cast of the Looney Tunes. Though the Looney Tunes series had already ended, the characters it created would still lived on even if we don't see Wile E. using those Acme products, or Bugs Bunny eating his carrot and saying, "What's Up Doc?," their memories and moments will always be on our mind. It would be nice though if they could actually make a movie with Bug Bunny taking on Mickey Mouse, but since both series had already ended, a possibility is one in a million.
