Today, People Magazine released the first public photos of fraternal twins, Emme and Max. The babies, a boy and a girl were born to celebrities Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, early Friday, February 22, 2008, at Long Island's North Shore University Hospital by c-section. According to People the babies will appear on this weeks issue in a "world exclusive" and will hit newsstands on Friday.
Emme was the first to enter the world at 12:12 a.m. and weighed 5 lbs. 7 oz., and the Max followed at 12:23 a.m., weighing 6 lbs. The babies are the first children for Lopez, 38, and the fourth and fifth for Anthony, 39.
Lopez was tight lipped about her pregnancy in the early weeks, as with her marriage to Marc Anthony in June 2004.
According to the Huffington Post the couple will receive between $4 million and $6 million for the exclusive photos. At the high end, the payout would set a a "stratospheric standard" in the market for celebrity baby photos. Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, after all, only received $4 million -- if that. Representatives of the couple and People magazine has denied there were any deals made.
Other reports claim however that the couple didn't make the negotiations for the cover story easy. Lopez demanded that she not be referred to as J.Lo and that Marc Anthony was to take the photos. She claims that J.LO is a name given to her during her Ben Affleck days and those days are behind her. Also, she had told hospital staff not to enter hew room. She has also required all visitors to see the babies to wear surgical masks. Sounds like Lopez has a phobia to GERMS. Doesn't she realize that's how babies develop their immune systems, by exposure to the outside world. Apparently Lopez has a history of having her own way.
I suppose that the couple "could use" the money since Marc Anthony is still stinging from that $2.5 million he owed the state of New York in back taxes, interest and penalties and because of the new expenses of the twins, with several nurseries, nannies and added security. The Chicago Sun Times revealed on February 28, 2008 that the actress was paying $600,000 a year for 6 new body guards for the twins, 2 for every 8 hour shift. That's 24 hour coverage. What a deal! Wonder if that includes weekends, Ha! In addition, closed-circuit cameras have been installed in every room of Lopez and Anthony's various homes.
There was speculation that the babies were conceived by in vitro fertilization, but Lopez says that twins run in the family, and her sister also has twins.
This week's issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday, features 12 pages of new photos of the pop star with husband Marc Anthony and their 1-month-old bundles of joy inside their Long Island home and nursery.
