Lorac ProtecTINT SPF 30, Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer: A Review

I always have those days when I am either too lazy to put on a good foundation or just do not have time. Of course, my skin has too many imperfections that make me feel self-conscious so I cannot go all bare. So, the most convenient solution to this problem, of course, is the tinted moisturizer.

I couldn't find the right shade on other tinted moisturizers so I picked up this ProtecTINT by Lorac. I have the shade "in the buff," which would be great for almost every light skinned people because it is so sheer. I felt that the color was a bit light for me, but since it was so sheer, I didn't even notice it. For one thing, it has a pretty high SPF since most of the tinted moisturizers have SPF of 15.

The texture is a little different than most tinted moisturizers too. Tinted moisturizers by Stila and Laura Mercier, which are best sellers, have much thicker texture than the Lorac one. Lorac ProtecTINT has almost a fluid like texture, which makes it very light. I actually like this a lot because it sinks in very fast and allows me to layer if I need to without disturbing the previous layer or making it look heavy.

But, that kind of texture can create a problem, too. First of all, it comes off very easily. It will leave a mark even at the slightest touch. Another thing, I feel that this has tiny particles of pigment and clear moisturizer that are not mixed very well because it sometimes gives me spots of pigment when not mixed well. You don't have to mix this prior to applying it and I don't always get those spots, but it sure is annoying when I can see those tiny spots of beige on my face.

This helps me get rid of redness pretty well but it doesn't give me a flawless face, of course. If you have sunspots or acne scars, they will be less noticeable, not still pretty visible. To me, this does not even take a minute to apply and since most of the tinted moisturizers have an SPF in them without the smell of the sunscreen I think it is super convenient on top of everything else.

I just wanted to put in a last word and compare tinted moisturizers to BB creams because for the most part, they both have sheer coverage and SPF and designed to be a convenient, one-step base makeup. I prefer tinted moisturizers over BB creams because tinted moisturizers have better pigments and am way lighter. But, if you want more coverage, BB creams are the way to go.
