Now, I'm not into fantasy type movies, so by myself I probably would have never set my eyes on this film; however, I was with my grandparents at the time, and I was forced to watch it. I don't remember the exact story line, but really who does? It's really confusing. I just sat there playing with pencils, drumming them on the end table. All I remember while sitting there was thinking 'when is this going to be over? It's taking forever'.
I suppose I hated it so much due to the fact no one was attractive in that movie, and I felt like the plot was way too complicated. I didn't even see a real love story. I know there must have been one, but nothing grabbed at my heart, like movie love stories tend to do. The movie just felt dragged out. Which, apparently it was, since the franchise went on to release more movies over the years.
It was so unlike the movies I generally watch which are generally dramatic romances, romantic comedies or
R-rated comedies. I don't stray too far into the fantasy genre. The farthest I have gone into the genre is the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise. I'm not all about "Harry Potter" and "Lord of The Rings". That whole fantasy genre just puts me to sleep.
This series was just a no-go for me and I'll keep to my romantic movies and comedies. For all of you who like and obsess over it, I'm glad that you understand the concept of the film. To me, "Lord of the Rings" will forever be completely overrated and confusing. I will never understand why four little people, accompanied by many more people, are trying to save one nice gold piece of jewelry. It may be awesome if you understand it, but to me it will just be the boring three hour movie that I watched at my grandparents and to this day, still do not understand.
