L'Oreal Bare Naturale Mineral Foundation Vs. ELF Mineral Powder Foundation

Which Mineral Brand is the Best?

Mineral makeup has become the new craze in the beauty world but the original mineral makeup brand, Bare Minerals, is a tad on the pricy side and out of many women's budget. Instead of giving up I went searching for other brands, more affordable brands that had mineral makeup line. I found quite a few but only two had a decent selection to choose from and that is L'Oreal Bare Naturale and E.L.F's mineral makeup. I played it safe and tried out a few products from both before committing myself to either. One product of theirs that I tried was their mineral powder foundation.

The first mineral foundation I tried was from L'Oreal's Bare Naturale line. I got it in creamy natural for around $13 at Target. The good thing about L'Oreal's Bare Naturale line is that they have a huge selection of colors to choose from. The product size was pretty standard. I liked the it has an SPF 19 and doesn't irritate my skin. This mineral foundation gives great coverage, comes with a handy built in kabuki brush and because it's a popular brand it can be found anywhere that sells makeup.

The negatives about L'Oreal's Bare Naturale mineral foundation is the price. Although it's much more affordable than Bare Minerals it's still on the pricy side. The packaging is nice but it makes using this product difficult. Instead of being able to tap the powder into the lid and using the brush to pick it up I had to keep the powder in the sifter part. The lid for this foundation is too deep for the brush to reach the bottom. The color selection is bit on the excessive side if you ask me. It took me a good hour just to decide on a shade before I went with the one with the same name as my old foundation. It turned out to bit a little too dark, making me look very tan. Although the product goes on light it looked heavy on my face.

The next mineral foundation I tried was from E.L.F's mineral line. I got in in light for about $5 off of their website, eyeslipsface.com. Right away I liked this product because it's cruelty-free and comes in chic container that looks just like Bare Minerals. When I tried it on the color was a perfect match to my own skin. Other reasons as to why I like it is that it didn't irritate my skin and has an SPF 15.The powder is very light weight on my face. It also provides good coverage without looking heavy.

The cons to this product is that the brand is hard to find in stores but the mineral line is even harder to find. The best way to get anything from E.L.F's mineral line is to order off of their website and the shipping is a pain because it's almost $7. Another bad thing about this product is that it's very small and the powder is hard to get out. I had to tap pretty hard on the bottom to get enough powder out.

In my opinion both products work equally well, it really depends on your personal preference. Between L'oreal's Bare Naturale mineral foundation and E.L.F's mineral foundation I prefer E.L.F's, only because it's much more affordable, better match to my skin tone and I like the packaging.
