L'Oreal EverSleek Sulfate-free Shampoo - Product Review

Lisa White ISSA & AFPA CPT
Over the years I have used many types of shampoo on my hair and on few occasions found some that I liked very much. I would like the smell or specific ingredients but still did not like the texture of my hair after it was washed. My daughter's hair was also very dry and frizzy and I thought it was because her hair is naturally curly. No matter how many shampoos we tried, the end result was the same.

Not too long ago, I began to do research on Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate (ALS) free and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) free shampoo because my stylist told me her hair was falling out. She thought it was because of these specific ingredients in her shampoo. The more I read on the subject the more intrigued I became. Since, I have tried several types of sulfate-free shampoo, but my most recent purchase was L'Oreal EverSleek Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner.

L'Oreal EverSleek Sulfate-free Smoothing System.

Since both my daughter and I would be using the shampoo I chose the Eversleek brand of the shampoo. This brand offers Argan, sunflower and olive oils to repair dried and damaged hair. My hair is dry but the harsh weather makes my daughter's curly hair extremely dry and causes it to snap when combed.
Characteristics

Immediately after opening the tube of shampoo I could smell it's scent and was pleased. The bottle is labeled with a sunflower scent, but I find it to be a bit stronger andI like that. The smell is rich in both the conditioner and shampoo and the consistency is thick and heavy.

I noticed that the L'Oreal EverSleek Sulfate-free shampoo had a good lather but not as much as the regular shampoos in the past. Different shampoos have heavy lather because the sulfate lathering agents. Fewer bubbles were the most noticeable difference.

Styling

After one use of the shampoo I could tell a difference in the texture my daughter's and my hair. For once, combing my daughters' curly hair was not a chore. There was no screaming or crying and her hair did not snap and break when combing the tangles. Previously, after washing her hair, it was dry and would snap each time I brushed it. Now, that is not an issue.

My hair was frizz-less and smooth,as well. Since my hair is very long I expected the shampoo to weigh my hair down, but it did not. I did not have to add any extra products such as silicone serums or anti-frizz products to our hair either.

Another important aspect of the sulfate-free shampoo is that it does not irritate my eczema. The eczema on my neck would become inflamed, peel, crack and bleed before I changed my shampoo to the sulfate-free version. It was extremely painful but this has stopped.

The cost

The price of L'Oreal EverSleek sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner is $7 a tube. For $14 we have smoother hair, fewer tangles, non irritated eczema, and less breakage. It is well worth the money.
