"L'Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail Foundation" Vs "Maybelline NY Dream Matte Perfect Mousse"

Christine
I am always looking for the perfect foundation, and well, anyone that purchases cosmetics is in the same boat. There are so many out there to choose from, each one promising a different thing. I am pretty lucky to have neither oily nor dry skin but I do suffer from hormonal breakouts. (Here I am talking about acne, not the states I inflict on others during PMS) Because my skin is half decent, when it comes to foundations I have two major needs. One is length of coverage, two is coverage. By that I mean the acne for those few days of the month when I need to hide something specific that is sitting on my face. I want a foundation that lasts, and that covers, and coverage that is lasting. Asking too much? Well there are other age defying foundations, or SPF ones, there's so much out there. I can get those needs met in other products. I just want my flaws covered, and I want that effect to last as long as possible.

So, when L'Oreal released their L'Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail Foundation, you can only imagine how tickled I was! A product that promises to NEVER fail? The cute girl on the commercial promised me that while SHE is not infallible, that doesn't mean her makeup can't be. I am telling you, I remember this because that is how excited I got about this product. L'Oreal Infallible Foundation promises just that, to never fail you. It promises 16 HOURS of stay put coverage, and also that it essentially makes your face look flawless. Their key marketing line here is that it resists the signs of fatigue. It also supposed to hide blemishes, end rub-off, stop shine, and fight those nasty environmental toxins that affect your makeup application. Did it work? Um, not so much. The coverage itself is very pretty once it goes on. Velvety smooth for sure, but it did NOT conceal my blemishes, not entirely anyway. That's ok, the rest of the coverage was very even and just about the effect I was looking for. I dealt. It did fight my fatigue signs and covered those under eye circles well. However, the lasting power was pathetic to say the least. I may have had to do touch ups two hours into the wear of the foundation. This is no 16 hr makeup. I would hate to think how long this lasts on oily skin, but for me, it just was no go. And this effect is the same whether you set with powder following or not. The pump however was pretty cool. It was the best foundation pump I have used yet. Easy to control, hygienic, and it doesn't throw product all over the place. But I didn't buy it for the pump. So for me, L'Oreal Paris Infallible Never Fail Foundation is a little more fallible than they represent it to be.

Onto my next attempt at the perfect foundation. Another 16 hr promiser, I tried Maybelline NY Dream Matte Perfect Mousse. Right off the bat I liked this one better it was about $5 cheaper. It comes in a little glass tub with a cap, which is another plus. I thought immediately that if I like this one, I will be able to use every last drop. This is a new formula coming out in many brands, and it is mouse formula that is whipped to provide an airy soft perfect matte finish with a virtually weightless feel to it. It is made of silicone polymers that prevents it from caking as well, another plus. The colors give enough coverage to blend with little to no effort, and the result was a soft, naturally looking even-toned appearance. Maybelline NY Dream Matte Perfect Mousse also comes in about 11 shades, so there really is something for everyone. Ok, so this one did NOT last me 16 hrs, but it lasted close to 10. That is 10 hrs of foundation use with absolutely zero touchups. The coverage was unbelievable. It hid just what I needed hidden, and it covered my entire face so cleanly and smoothly. The product is extremely easy to use, it does what it says it does, and it met both of my two needs for a foundation product. Even though Maybelline NY Dream Matte Perfect Mousse does in itself provide a matte look, I do recommend finishing it with powder, especially if you plan on putting other makeup on like blush. Also, if you use a face primer, that will give it some more staying power. I tried it with and without a face primer and definitely had longer results when using the primer. (by not using primer, I still had long lasting results, just longer with the primer. I use Models Prefer Face Primer)

So, if you are looking for a foundation with the same needs in mind that I have, go with Maybelline NY Dream Matte Perfect Mousse, it will give you beautiful long lasting coverage and it is super easy on the wallet as well.
