L'Oreal Visible Lift Firming Versus Revlon Age Defying Makeup with Botafirm

Donna Porter
The miracles of today's makeup do not cease to amaze me and this includes developments in age defying makeup such as those produced by Revlon and L'Oreal.

The two products, L'Oreal Visible Lift Firming and Revlon Age Defying Makeup and Concealer Compact with Botafirm®, are cosmetics well designed for the thirty to fifty plus woman.

Not an avid fan of foundation makeup, because of its feel, and I'm cosmetically lazy, admittedly my beauty confidence goes up a notch or two when I put my face on with either of these age-friendly formulas.

Better still, Revlon Age Defying Makeup is for people like me who dislike the typical feel of foundation makeup and yet grants a cosmetic pardon for recent years of sun-abused skin.

L'Oreal Visible Lift Firming Makeup

This medium density liquid foundation is available in a translucent, convenient, glass pump container that is well designed for easy application. L'Oreal foundation makeup contains both Pro-Retinol A and a proprietary compound called X-Tensium.

A patent search on L'Oreal Visible Lift Firming makeup and X-Tensium was performed but failed to produce meaningful results. I suspect X-Tensium is transported by microspheres per existing L'Oreal patents. Regardless, X-Tensium is intended to firm up the skin upon application. Results from the Pro-Retinol A take more time, about two to four weeks.

L'Oreal Visible Lift Firming foundation makeup doesn't work miracles, and is not my favorite of the two, but does a fairly nice job of minimizing very fine lines. Otherwise overall coverage for this makeup is heavy enough to improve uneven skin and imperfections.

With an SPF of 17, L'Oreal Visible Lift Firming Makeup lasts throughout the day and if applied lightly enough blends well enough for spot coverage.

One problem with this foundation makeup is it doesn't look attractive unless applied somewhat carefully, especially around crevices such as your nose or mouth and a heavy application looks heavy.

L'Oreal Visible Lift Firming Makeup feels a bit oily at first but this soon fades and the skin feels moisturized.

It's difficult to assess if my skin is firmer from the makeup alone as I use other skin anti-aging skin care products. Also, I do not wear foundation daily. Otherwise, my skin appears to be in better condition and suspect some credit is due here.

While preferring Revlon Age Defying Makeup overall, in the wintertime or when my skin has dry patches, L'Oreal Visible Lift Firming is better suited for these occasions. This foundation makeup is more forgiving of dry spots compared to several other cosmetics.

Of note, another L'Oreal Visible Lift makeup -with no firming action- is distinctly different than the firming foundation formula.

Revlon Age Defying Makeup & Concealer Compact with Botafirmâ„¢

It was love at first use with Revlon Age Defying Makeup. Though the compact form is reminiscent of a pancake-style makeup and applied with a sponge, Revlon Age Defying Makeup feels airy and soft to the touch and is easy to apply. A liquid formula is also available.

My skin feels better with Revlon Age Defying Makeup on then it does following the application of most moisturizers, it is that good.

Coverage for fine lines is minimal to fair, similar to L'Oreal Visible Firming Lift, but overall Revlon Age Defying makeup provides average coverage, somewhat less than L'Oreal. It is the overall look that is so appealing.

With an SPF of 20, Revlon Age Defying makeup is oil-free so it makes for a good summertime foundation makeup or for normal, combination or acne-prone skin.

However, if you have problems with dry patches, you may not like this makeup. The liquid may be better but this formula makes very dry skin look flakier. The concealer is quite light, creamier and more forgiving. I generally prefer the L'Oreal Visible Lift Eye concealer.

As with L'Oreal Visible Lift Firming, continued use may improve skin texture.

According to Revlon, Botafirm® is "a patented blend of hexapeptide and botanicals, clinical studies showed a 47% reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in just 2 weeks" and over 75% of women found their skin looked firmer, more radiant after just one week.

Conclusion

Revlon Age Defying makeup receives an A- , better than any foundation I have used. With it, good skin look great and fair skin look good.

For women who desire more moisture and heavier coverage L'Oreal Visible Firming Lift may offer more appeal and receives a B- overall. Your results with these foundation makeup products may be superior with regular use.

  • Revlon's foundation makeup feels better than moisturizer.
  • Revlon's Age Defying Makeup looks great except on very dry skin.
  • Both foundation makeups may minimize lines and increase skin firmness with use.

I love the L'Oreal Visual Lift foundation but I have one complaint. After using only half
the bottle, the pump stops working and I lose the other half of the bottle. This has happened
on 2 separate bottles. Any suggestions on how I can avoid this happening?

    Thanks,
    Jean Burns

Bought the Visible Lift just before Xmas and love the product but the pump does not work half the time and the Drug Store where I bought it won't take it back. Need to improve pkg. the product comes in.

I've just saw an ad for L'oreal for it anti-aging product that Jane Fonda is doing for this company.
I think that she totally wrong for his ad. First of all we'll never look like her when we're her age(72/73), my reason for saying that ...I saw her on Larry King a few months back saying she got a facelift...now how is this product going to compete with that...age defying? I never saw anyone that looks like her at that age that got there using any of these products that bought over the counter,if there are maybe you should be using them. at least it would be more realistic.

This is a very misleading ad, totally not fair for the women out there that thinks that by using this product they'll look like her at that age.

What were you thinking..she told the world on TV, where was your marketing company when it was aired. Probably tuned into Janes Fonda's Workout.

This sound like something for You tube or facebook.

I bought the Loreal foundation it cost $45 and its awful, its very drying does not blend well and looks cakey around mouth and eyes, is hard to apply - Have tried Revlons botafirm which is a 100% better than Loreal

  • Rayray12/16/2009

Used Loreal Visible Lift today. Hideous. Makes you look 10 years older as it seperates and leaves every lines emphasized tenfold.

i am only 29 and i want to know which facial products like the cleanser and moisturizer would be best to keep my facelooking and feeling young.

It does work out better to apply the most liquid
foundation first-which would be the Revlon w/ Botafirm
liquid makeup if using it together w Loreal cream Age
Perfect. Sorry I said that in reverse for my prev comment! The two together makes a very smooth look...
    I like it a lot.

Hi, I am almost 51 and have found a very nice makeup foundation look for 50ish dry skin with some wrinkle problems. I start with Loreal Age Perfect Skin-Supporting (creamy texture) and then add in Liquid Revlon
Age Defying w/ Botafirm. Looks very natural-not too dry or too oily, and Loreal has supplied the handy brush! Expensive at first but seems to be worth the 2 prices if I buy at Discount Drug Store, etc.
Please let me know what you think!! Thanks

Hmmm....I might just have to do that though I do love my mineral stuff.
