Besides being a country music star, Loretta Lynn is also a savvy businesswoman. She opened The Dude Ranch in Hurricane Mills in the early 1970s. The Dude Ranch is a little off the beaten path, but it is well worth the trip. Since 1972, many new and exciting events have been added, making it a very family oriented tourist attraction.
Today, the Dude Ranch offers not only a playground, swimming pool, paddle boats and canoeing, but also cabin rentals and a fully equipped RV Park . You will also want to spend some time in Loretta's Western Store and Lady Loretta's Boutique Shop. If you need a bite to eat, be sure to visit the Snack Bar and Rock-A-Billy Cafe, located on Stage Coach Hill.
You can also enjoy a tour of Loretta Lynn's Plantation Home and simulated coal mine. These tours run on an hourly basis and cost $12/adult and $6/child.
One event you won't want to miss is Loretta Lynn's 18,000 square foot Coal Miner's Daughter Museum. Here you will find memorabilia from Loretta Lynn's career in country music. Admission: $10/adult $5/child.
If you are looking for a trail ride vacation for the family, Loretta Lynn's Bi-Annual Trail Ride will be perfect. These rides are available in early June and early September. You and your family can explore miles of trails across more than 6000 acres of pristine land. The fees for this trail ride run $70/day for adults, $55/day for children. They also offer weekly rates. Registration is required for this event.
For the more adventurous, there is also an "Extreme Trail Riding Training Course". If you have ever wanted to live as real cowboys used to, "Horsemen's Wrangler Camp" is for you. Prices per day per person start at $25.50 for primitive accommodations and $29.50 if you prefer water and electricity and not so much "roughing it". There are also discounts if you wish to stay more than one day on the trail.
Loretta Lynn's Dude Ranch is open March through October and is located 65 miles West of Nashville off I-40 at exit 143, 7 miles north Highway 13 in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Y'all Come!

Post a CommentIt would be nice, if a site could be found, that would give a phone number, information concerning
renting a cabin. I'm not concerned about finding the place, that's all the info I can find. Give some info concerning rentals, reservations etc. How to come and stay a few days..............
i was with my sick sister and we stopped from a long trip to visit the Loretta Lynn Ranch. Loretta has always been her idol and she was on cloud 9. She was raised poor like Loretta and always had to do without the nicer things as she grew up. She now is in the stagae sof Alhezimers and I wanted to take her there before she gets really sick. We stopped at her resturant to eat and before we got inside we took all kinds of pictures and she was on top of the world. We walkied in and were half way greeted by a very sour woman. When we checked out we were treated like dirt. This was to be the best day of my sisters life and we left with her crying until she fell asleep on the way home. The ranch was awsome even tho everything was closed. The waitress were very kind but the lady ruined the whole day for us. i willnever forget the way my sister cried. For a business person i cannot believe she would have such a person up front at her business.
My wife and I were there in 1977, We had a great time camping horseback riding but then a sad
time Elvis died that day Il never forget that week
