1979. The Angels make their first postseason appearance in 1979 when they win the American League Western Division Title. The Angels face the Baltimore Orioles in the League Championship Series. Trailing by two games, the Angels win their first ever playoff game in game three. But the Orioles win game four to win the series three games to one.
1982. The Angels win their second division title in franchise history and return to the postseason. The Angels play the Milwaukee Brewers in the League Championship Series. The Angels win the first two games of the series at home and head to Milwaukee needing to win just one game to win the series. However the Brewers would win the next three games to win the series and the pennant in five games
1986. The Angels advance to the postseason for the third time in their history when they once again win the American League Western Division title. This time the Angels play the Boston Red Sox in the League Championship Series. The Angels take a three games to one series lead heading into game five. The Angels have a three run lead in the ninth inning of game five and are on the verge of winning their first American League Pennant. But he Red Sox rally to take the lead and eventually win the game in extra innings. The Red Sox would then go on to win the next two games to win the series in seven games.
2002. The Angels return to the postseason for the first time since 1986 when they win the American League Wild Card. The Angels play the New York Yankees in the Divisional playoff round. The Yankees win game one, but the Angels than go on to win the next three games to take the series in four games. The Angels advance the League Championship Series against the Minnesota Twins. The Angels drop the first game but than win the next four games to win the series and their first American League Pennant
The Angels advance to their first World Series in franchise history against the San Francisco Giants. The Giants take a three games to two series lead after five games. In game six the Giants lead by a score of 5 to 0. The Angels rally to score six runs and win the game by a score of 6 to 5 to force a game seven. The Angels win game seven 4 to 1 to win their first World Championship in franchise history.
2004. The Angels return to the postseason in 2004 when they win the American League Western Division Title. They face the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the playoffs. The Red Sox go on to sweep the Angels and win the series in three games.
2005. The Angels once again win the Western Division title to advance to the postseason. They play the New York Yankees in the first round of the playoffs. The two teams split the first four games to force a decisive fifth game. The Angels win game five by a score of 5 to 3 to advance to the American League Championship Series. The Angels play the Chicago White Sox in the LCS. The Angels win game one but the White Sox win the next four games to win the series in five games.
2007. The Angels win the Western Division Title in 2007 to advance to the postseason. They play the Boston Red Sox in the first round, but the Red Sox sweep the series in three games.
2008. The Angels win their second consecutive division title and once again face the Boston Red Sox in the first round of the playoffs. This time the Red Sox would win the series in four games.
