Los Angeles King's Jarret Stoll and His Hockey Career

BS
Jarret Stoll has not been in the NHL for long, but already, he has had an interesting career. Jarret Stoll was born in Melville, Saskatchewan on June 24, 1982, making him a very new twenty-seven years old. This center is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 210 pounds. Jarret Stoll's road to a professional hockey career began in the 1997-1998 season. At the beginning of this season, Stoll was playing with the Saskatoon Blazes in the SMAAAHL (Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League), but towards the end of the season, he made his way into junior level hockey with the Edmonton Ice in the WHL (Western Hockey League). The WHL is one of the three leagues which makes up the CHL (Canadian Hockey League), which is the best junior hockey league in all of Canada.

For the 1998-1999 season, Jarret Stoll remained in the WHL, but with a different team, the Edmonton Ice. The following season, the Edmonton Ice franchise was moved to British Columbia and changed their name to the Kootenay Ice. In 2000, Jarret Stoll was drafted by the Calgary Flames, 46th overall, but remained in the WHL. Jarret Stoll spent his entire time in the WHL with the Edmonton/Kootenay Ice. Stoll was drafted by the Calgary Flames but the team and Stoll could not come to an agreement in the terms of the contract. The Flames tried to trade him to the Toronto Maple Leafs, but could not meet the deadline, so Stoll was released, which is why he stayed in the WHL.

In 2002, Jarret Stoll re-entered the NHL draft and was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers, 36th overall. After being drafted, Jarret Stoll was moved to the AHL (American Hockey League) to play with the Hamilton Bulldogs. The AHL serves a developmental league for future NHL players. Stoll spent the majority of the season with the Hamilton Bulldogs, playing 76 games with them before the Edmonton Oilers called him up to finish the season with them. Jarret Stoll played four games with the Oilers before the end of the 2002-2003 season. Stoll also spent the 2003-2004 season with the Edmonton Oilers.

During the 2004-2005 NHL Lockout, Jarret Stoll was placed in the AHL with the Oiler's affiliate team, the Edmonton Roadrunners, where he played the entire season while waiting for the NHL to start again. When the Lockout ended, Jarret Stoll went back to play with the Edmonton Oilers for the 2005-2006 season. Stoll remained with the Edmonton Oilers until the end of the 2007-2008 season. For the 2008-2009 season, Jarret Stoll was traded to the Los Angeles Kings.
