In 2002, Jarret Stoll re-entered the NHL draft and was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers, 36th overall. After being drafted, Jarret Stoll was moved to the AHL (American Hockey League) to play with the Hamilton Bulldogs. The AHL serves a developmental league for future NHL players. Jarret Stoll played four games with the Oilers before the end of the 2002-2003 season. Stoll also spent the 2003-2004 season with the Edmonton Oilers.
During the 2004-2005 NHL Lockout, Jarret Stoll was placed in the AHL with the Oiler's affiliate team, the Edmonton Roadrunners, where he played the entire season while waiting for the NHL to start again. When the Lockout ended, Jarret Stoll went back to play with the Edmonton Oilers for the 2005-2006 season. Stoll remained with the Edmonton Oilers until the end of the 2007-2008 season.
