This plush theater, decorated in nostalgic red velvet, is home to some of the old-time great films from the pioneer days of Hollywood. Every Wednesday is silent movie night, showing the best of Buster Keaton, with such classic comedies as "The General", "College" and more. Shown as they were originally intended, the films are complimented with live music from legendary organist, Bob Mitchell. After the show, walk to the corner of Fairfax and Sunset to Canter's Deli for a delicious mile high roast beef sandwich.Open 24 hours a day, it's the best quick dinner spot in town.

On Thursday nights, the Silent Movie Theatre offers Punk Music Cinema, and sometimes, Post Punk Junk night, with films exploring the rock and roll genre. Friday's are double feature nights, and home to the Psychedelic 60's. All performances at The Silent Movie Theatre are $10.

For a truly red carpet experience, try a night out at the Acr Light Multiplex in the heart of Hollywood. A popular venue with A-list movie premiers, these high tech cinemas are opened to the public, providing the best sound and projection systems in the country. Each theater holds over 800 guests and it's "black box" design provides unrestricted viewing from all vantage points. Arc Light uses only the finest in Kinoton projectors, Dolby and JBL speakers, enabling the sights and sounds to envelope the audience for an unsurpassed 2 hour experience on the 40x60 foot screens. The complex is also home to the Cinerama Dome, which uses the same high tech equipment as the Multiplex, but enhances the experience with a deeply curved 32x86 foot screen for the ultimate viewing experience. All Arc Light tickets are $12.00.
After the show, try the Arc Light Cafe conveniently located in the quad area. Hot and cold meals are priced right under $10 and the restaurant is opened til 1am. For a more upscale night out, try the Cabana Club for dinner, drinks and live entertainment. The Cabana Club is walking distance behind the Arc Light plaza; you will not have to move your car.

For a wild night out, try the Nuart Theatre for it's midnight showing of the Rocky Horrror Picture Show. This cult classic has been ongoing here since the 70's, and never short on audience enthusiasm. Remember to bring all your props: water pistols, confetti, newspapers, party poppers, toilet paper, playing cards, bells, rubber gloves, party hats, toast (unbuttered) and flashlights. No inhibitions here in L.A. When we throw props, we throw props! So, expect to get a little soiled and have some rauckus fun. The lines are around the block, so you will need to get there early. Showtimes are Saturday nights promptly at 11:59pm.
In addition to the Rocky Horror, Nuart Theatre runs edgy Film Noir, fine international films and compelling documentaries. This landmark theater has something for everyone and many dining options are nearby. All seats at Nuart are $10.50.
4. IMAX Theatre, located in Exposition Park

The IMAX Theatre is part of a science educational center at the Los Angeles museums in Exposition Park. This state-of-the-art auditorium spares no expense with each seat engulfed in 12,000 watts of surround sound. Also, IMAX uses the largest film frames in the industry, 10 times the size of a standad 35mm frame, which if layed out in a straight line, would be 3 miles long. The IMAX wrap around screen and cutting edge sound technology pulls the moviegoer into the action for a powerful and moving experience. After the show, the Science Museum is free, and offer's children over 100 interactive exhibits for hands on training with the experiments. For lunch, a short walk will take you to the museum's Mc Donald's, Taco Bell Express and a coffee house. Educational materials and souvenirs may be purchased in the Science Center's Explorastore.
IMAX admission is $8.00 for adults, $4.75 for children, and students and seniors are $5.75. Parking is $8.00 for all day, with other museums in the park to visit.

For those who wish to spend the day, Universal CityWalk has 19 enormous high tech theaters with surround sound and an 8-story high IMAX theater to serve you. In addition to the movies, this venue offers dozens of casual dining spots and specialty shoppoing outlets for movie memorabilia. Tickets are $12.00 for the multiplex but you must call for IMAX prices, as they vary per performance. All-day parking is $8.00 for Citywalk and the Cinemas will validate your parking with a $5.00 discount.
