Los Angeles Storytelling Festival

The Best in the Business

Stories have been told as long as man has been able to communicate with one another and there is something of an art to the craft. There are many people who know a lot about a lot of different things but try getting them to explain anything to you and it can be very difficult indeed. However there are a gifted few who not only are able to really tell a riveting story but also are able to make a living doing so. It is with this in mind that the 6th Annual Los Angeles Storytelling Festival ravages the Expo Center and Exposition Park (3980 S. Menlo Ave) in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 10, from 9AM to 8:30PM.

A project belonging to Los Angeles Story Works, the LA Storytelling Festival has many enthusiastic sponsors including the City of Los Angeles, Department of Cultural Affairs, the Expo Center, and the Parks and Recreation Department of Los Angeles. With more than 2 dozen scheduled performers this day the event will truly be a kid in a candy store type of event and should be able to nab a lot of interest from anyone with an attention span long enough to read this sentence.

With a full day of events going on there will probably be the need to pick and choose what events you would like to go and see. While the festival lineup does make it appear that the events will be taking place in one spot, in sequence, the truth is that sitting through nine hours of stories may be difficult for even the most interested person. No need to worry though as there is a full and interactive website where people can go and learn all they want about the storytelling festival, the content of the different events, and the people hosting or speaking or talking so guests may plan accordingly.

In addition to the storytelling of such storytelling luminaries as Antonio Sacre, Clara Yen, Marilyn McPhie, Gay Ducey, and Leslie Perry there will also be workshops and family programs that people will be able to participate in.

Spinning Straw Into Gold is an introductory workshop in storytelling where interested storytellers can get their head around exactly what it means to tell an interesting story. Private Parts for Public Places explores the raw material of emotions in a fun and playful manner. Bilingual Storytelling explores the manner of writing and telling your story in a bilingual manner which will be good for any interested persons.

If you'd like to find out more about this November 10 event, including deals on group rates and pre-registration benefits, then you should call, email, or check out the website right now!
