Lose Weight by Brushing Your Teeth?

A Healthy Habit that Can Help You Control Your Weight

Nicholas Christie
Have you ever thought about an unconventional way of loosing those extra pounds, something as unconventional as a toothbrush? Yes, you heard that right. A toothbrush can help you manage your quota of food and can help you overcome your bout with hunger.

Many people will shrug this thought off at the onset due to bad taste associated inseparably with the toothpaste. However, a simple mouthwash or Listerine in your favorite flavor compares to anything you deemed tasty so far. Here is the icing to the cake.

Next time you are in your kitchen, limit you food consumption to a decent amount and take a "toothbrush" break. You will not feel like eating for a while. Viola! You have achieved your dieting task without any difficulty.

If you are not convinced by now, let us bring the argument farther. Next time you are hungry but want to control it, don't press yourself too hard just take a toothpaste break. Rinse your mouth with a mouthwash and check again. Are you still hungry? A good probability is that you won't be.

The story doesn't end here. If you commit yourself to the minimum recommended brushing standard every day, you will loose 1.5 pounds as a direct benefit of burning 5500 calories every year. The recommended brushing is, by the way, two minutes three times a day. Adhering to the standard not only ensures the much-needed weight loss but it also ensures healthy and glossy teeth resulting in better self-esteem, outlook, and reduced bills/visits to your dentist.

Remember though some drinks are not recommended before brushing. Soft/sports drinks deplete the enamel on your teeth because of their acid content. Your best strategy in your own interest is to quit the soda intake for ever. If, however, you have just consumed such drinks, then it is best to rinse your mouth with plain water or Listerine. Take a 30-minutes walk and brush your teeth afterwards.

Convinced now? I am sure you will be.
