Lose Weight and Still Feel Full

Lose Weight with Less Suffering

Charlie Rossiter
One of the greatest obstacles to dieting is the problem of hunger. When you cut back on the amount you are used to eating your body resists and craves those old larger portions. The best solution I've found-yes this is my personal formula and it works, is the Feel Full program.

I admit I've never had a major weight problem. Most of my adult life I've come in at around 180. I'm 5'11" so that's all right. But somehow I managed to let the pounds add on. I learned that sad news when my wife got a new electronic scale and pronounced it perfectly accurate. I stepped on and it read 194. For a couple of days I continued to argue that the new super-accurate scale was wrong, but gradually I knew I had to believe it.

My response was to kick into diet mode, but I was determined not to suffer. That's when I invented the Feel Full program. The Feel Full program gives you some personal choice. Here's how it works for me. Oatmeal. That's right. Oatmeal every morning for breakfast. My body finds oatmeal very filling and that means I'm not only satisfied when I eat it for breakfast. It also means that even though I'm dieting, I'm not starving at lunchtime, so I can have a reasonably sized lunch. On days when I wanted to go really low calorie I often had a bowl of cereal for lunch, something like Total that's high in vitamins and low in calories. On a day like that I was going into dinner with maybe 600 calories under my belt and could eat a reasonably normal dinner, but no seconds of course and still be on the downward weight path.

In six weeks I was down to my fighting weight of 178. Since that time, about a year ago, I've been getting on the scale every morning. Most mornings I'm around 178-9 and can have free choice for breakfast, but if I'm over 180 I have oatmeal.

So to use the Feel Full program, discover what foods really work to make you feel full and eat them consistently. For me, bagels are another food that works to make me feel full. Naturally, I forgo toppings like cream cheese and preserves and either eat them plain or with only a little butter.

It's always difficult to stick with a diet, but if your diet lets you feel full while you're dropping the pounds, it's a lot easier.
