Losing Baby Weight: You Can Do It!

My husband and I were so excited with the news of expecting our first baby! I have always been slender and all of a sudden I felt all this extra weight in a concentrated area. My husband was very encouraging and reminded me gaining weight during this time was a good thing and once the baby came, he would help me get back into shape by watching the baby ect.

Six months ago, I had our son and I just could not wait to get in to my routine of getting back in shape. I will be honest, it was not easy to find time for me. Between adjusting to motherhood, house and transitioning back into work I found one thing that worked time block! What I mean with this is make a list of things that need to be done and when the baby is sleeping start knocking things off. Many times I had "nap" on my list! Once I was able to square those things away, I had some spare time. I would use this time to use my exercise DVD and I prop the baby up in a bounce next to me. My son loves watching me working out- he will actually giggle like crazy.

The other thing I do is work things from 5th grade gym class into my day. When I am making dinner, instead of walking to the trash can, I do lunges there. When I teach my son to count, I do jumping jacks rather then just saying the numbers. By doing these things in unconventional ways did allow me to get back into my pre-baby clothes in about 2 months. That was a lot quicker then gaining that weight over 9 months! My basic point is for me becoming a mom limited my extra time but in order to make efforts to be fit, I had to find ways to work my workout into my day since getting 45 minutes at one time is hard to find with a small baby. Be creative and any form of exercise is better then nothing!
