Losing Weight Eating at McDonalds

WRITER
The Houston Chronicle states that a man in Virginia claims that he has lost 80 pound in 6 months just by eating at McDonalds. Is this really possible? McDonald chains for many years have been criticized for serving foods that contain high calories and fats. Order their famous Big Mac that has 540 calories and 26 grams of fat and add it with small fries that has 230 calories and 11 grams of fat. Then topped off with a small drink with 150 calories. Now your meal would be at 920 calories and 37 grams of fat. The recommended calorie consumption is 2000 a day. With that meal you have already used up half of the recommendation. So how did this man do it? He didn't do it by eating Big Macs and Cheeseburgers but simply salads and wraps that McDonalds offer.

Let's take a look at the salad menu at McDonalds. They currently offer 10 different salads and 6 different types of wraps. The Premium Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken only contains 220 calories and 6 grams of fat. That is a huge improvement compared to the Big Mac. Even the Caesar Salad and a small soda will only have 370 calories. The Grilled Honey Mustard Snack Wrap only has 260 calories and 6 grams of fat. The Bacon Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken only has 260 calories and 9 grams of fat.

We have to be careful though, not all McDonald's salads are good. The Premium Southwest Salad with Crispy Chicken contains 430 calories and 20 grams of fat. Even the Crispy Honey Mustard Snack Wrap contains 330 calories and 16 grams of fat. The Asian Salad with Crispy Chicken has 410 calories and 20 grams of fat. Consuming these items on a daily basis will not help your diet out at all. They can actually hurt your diet more than improving it.

It is important to check the nutrition fact for all McDonalds Salads and Wraps before starting this diet. Yet it is very possible to loose weight from eating at McDonalds everyday, it will take hard work to accomplish the mission. Stay away from the fried crispy chicken Salads and Wraps and stick to the classic grilled chicken since they contain less calories. Also try an alternative or use a fat fee dressing. You can also just stick to the salad without the chicken as well. Remember as in any diet you have to count your calories that you consume and stick to your plan.
