Losing Weight the Right Way

People need to be aware of the risks of being overweight or obese. To be overweight decreases the quality of your life, shortens your life span, and makes you susceptible to some serious life threatening diseases like stroke, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.

There is no advantage to being overweight; it is just plain bad for you. So now, you want to lose weight, and you of course want to lose it fast. You could starve yourself and you will lose weight fast, but you then just cause more health problems for yourself.

The only way to permanent weight loss.

Face it, being overweight is a lifestyle that you are currently living. To lose weight and become fit and trim will require a lifestyle change. You will have to accept that your current lifestyle is unhealthy, and start a new healthy lifestyle.

To do this you will need to start a weight loss program. At first, this may seem tough, but with a little endurance, you can see results, and if you stay with it, you will maintain those results.

You cannot fail unless you quit. As long as you are doing what needs to be done according to the weight loss plan you chose, you will lose the weight. If you slip and indulge, do not give up; just pick up where you left off.

You lose it as you gained it

You did not get overweight overnight; it took a few years to get this way. Well, here is a hard truth, it will take a while to get fit and trim. Now with effort you can lose the weight faster than you gained it, but it may take many months before you see large results.

A reasonable goal of losing a pound a week may seem like it is too slow, but it is easily done. The idea is to change your lifestyle, to get fit and trim will require long-term effort. Then to stay fit and trim will require effort for the rest of your life.

To be healthy is also to be happy; if you do not have your health, you truly do not have happiness. If you are overweight you do not have good health, you therefore must find and use a weight loss program that will get you into shape and into a healthy weight.

Try it you'll like it

One of the main complaints of overweight people is they do not like to exercise. When that word is used, they go into mental shutdown and rebel against all that is connected to that word.

So do not use the word exercise until you are comfortable with it, and see that it is not the world ending punishment that you think it is. Use the word activity instead. Then go and do some, like walking, bike riding, swimming, and so on.

When you get into a little better shape you may then consider a gym or spa for your activity, and then you may not be afraid of exercise anymore. You will never know until you do it.
