They Sendin out the posse

on a search for the lost

but what about the po soul

at the foot of the cross

surrounded by the Phara

and the Sadd U cees

steady keepin a brotha

down on his hands and knees

their eyes blind and ears deaf

to his cries and pleas

holdin their religion in his face

they taunt and they tease

Deliverance can be yours

for the right amount of cheese

or tithes or dues

or time in the pews

aint nothin good about it

it just the same ol news

came to the church for help

only to be abused!

somehow the brotha got away

dazed and confused

tried to ease his pain

with the drugs and the booze

it aint workin anymore

got to take it up a notch

in order to fund his habit

he starts slangin rocks

needle marks between his toes

cause his veins are shot

now broken and battered

brothas clothes are all tattered

catch him walkin down the sidewalk

and the people all scatter

he ducks into an alley

so he can get his high

but little does he know

that he's about to die!

somethin's going wrong

and my man can tell

his heart starts pounding

his hands begin to swell

he tries to run run help

he stumbled and fell

so much pressure on the chest

gettin hard to inhale

just a few moments left

then eternity in hell

darkness all around

but he sees a ray of light

frantic and cryin

he turns his head to the right

he knows that he is dyin

yet he tries to fight

sees some graffitti on the wall

reads "its gonna be alright!

his body start convulsing

his fist clenched tight

he tries to take a breath

it takes all of his might

he cries

Lord I lived my life wrong

but I wanna die right

to the best of his ability

he recites a sinners prayer

that he had heard in the Sunday School

the few times he was there.................

he closes with amen

and his last breath of air

no more pressure on his chest

no more worries

no more cares

no more misguided solutions

for his problems in life

he finally found what he was missing

relationship with Christ......

now his earthly life is over

and his eternal one starts

Forever Soakin in the Son

cause he surrendered his heart!

An amazing piece. Very powerful, insightful, and most of all anointed.

    WOW, WOW!!!

Wonderful! Some churches condemn people away from Christ instead of to His loving arms. This is excellent. So many times I've prayed that dying ones heard that still small voice in the end.

    I love this!

Say Higher Power too, and it works for me. Let our consciences be our gods, some of us may not be Chrisitians but still try to do good. -- mike

Thanks Sheryl and Demetria...and Sheryl...it was in my own rebellion against the wrong messages of organized religion that I stumbled across the "right messages" in some unlikely places and through them I discovered relationship with Christ...now I'm "Soakin in The Son" myself! :)

Dude - this is so cool! It shows that despite "organized religion" sometimes sending the wrong message, that the right message still gets out there and is remembered by many when they reach the end of themselves. When we truly search out the meaning of God and life, who Jesus was (and still is) and how He can help us, everything comes together.

I really appreciate that last line. It is so wonderful to know that someone has committed themselves to Christ. Loss is never easy, but the knowledge that our loved one's aren't lost is a blessing.
