'LOST' Alternate Endings on Jimmy Kimmel Live 'Aloha to LOST' Special

Featuring Cast Members, LOST Clips, and Disappointing Spoof Videos

The Jimmy Kimmel Live show soothed the fresh wounds of fans mourning the close of LOST with the 'Aloha to LOST' special, rounding out the series finale event with exclusive cast interviews and the big ticket: three alternate endings. The LOST series finale event aired from 9-11:30/c; read my review of the LOST finale here, which does contain spoilers.

The show started with Matthew Fox, who portrayed Dr. Jack Shepherd, alone on the set for a brief interview. Jimmy shared his opinions on the LOST finale, which included a theory that the entire show was really about Jack's redemption. One of the best moments on the 'Aloha to LOST' show was when Jimmy Kimmel addressed Harold Perrineau, who played Michael Dawson, and said: "Thank you for killing Ana Lucia."

In true Jimmy Kimmel fashion, the three alternate LOST endings were actually spoofs of famous series finales or show endings.

The first alternate ending featured Survivor host Jeff Probst and a mock final jury, featuring LOST cast-aways voting off Sayid (Naveen Andrews). The second alternate ending placed cast-aways in the Sopranos finale, with the third featuring Kate (Evangeline Lilly) in the famous finale episode of Newhart with none other than Bob Newhart himself turning over in bed and exclaiming to Lilly, "You're not Emily!"

The LOST alternate endings are viewable here on the ABC website for anyone who missed the original airing of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Unfortunately, for the fans that were looking for authentic alternate endings as the promos suggested, the spoof videos were a source of frustration. A very clever rouse on the part of the Jimmy Kimmel Live producers, however; no doubt a huge number of LOST fans tuned-in, hoping to see additional footage which might further explain what happened on the LOST series finale just 30mins before.

I wonder if Marilyn Manson, who was in the studio audience for 'Aloha to LOST,' was as disappointed as I was.
