Lost Finale Party: Ideas and Tips

How to Plan the Perfect Lost Finale Party

Lisa Miller
The two-hour series finale of the television show Lost will be airing on Sunday, May 23rd. What better time to gather your Lost-addicted friends together to celebrate and send-off this engaging and addictive show? Not only will you be able to share in the inevitable joy (and disappointment) with all of your best friends, but you'll also have plenty of people around to assure you that there is life after Lost.

So, procure a high-definition television and some seating, and use these tips to create a memorable Lost finale party:

Lost Finale Party: Décor

The best idea that I can offer when it comes to your Lost finale party décor is to scatter some clothing and open luggage around wherever you will be doing your watching. You can also decorate with coconut and pineapple centerpieces, and (unlit) torches.

Make sure to put a Dharma station sign up on your front door (you can make your entryway the "Swan" or the "Orchid"). Put other station signs up on other rooms throughout your house, as well. If someone asks where the restroom is, for example, you can simply tell them it's at the "Pearl Station."

Lost Finale Party: Food

When planning on food for your Lost finale party, think tropical.

For your hors d'oeuvres, put out airplane -sized packets of peanuts , dried tropical fruits (dried mango, pineapple, or banana all work well) or even sugar cookies cut into the shape of fish (refer to these as "fish biscuits" and make your guests perform a simple task to earn them).

As a main course you can't go wrong with fish (smoked salmon especially), pork (because wild boar is difficult for most of us to get), or even Hot Pockets for the lazy among us(just don't let anyone throw them at your walls).

And for dessert? Peanut butter (imaginary or real, it's your call).

Lost Finale Party: Drinks

Be careful when planning out your drinks for your Lost finale party. Though it may be tempting to create a Lost drinking game, try to practice moderation. It's difficult enough to know what's going on with Lost without adding a bunch of alcohol to the mix.

So what should you serve for drinks? Basically anything you want, as long as you have fun with it. Are you serving soda or beer? Then print out a few of these great Dharma labels and affix them to your cans or bottles. Are you planning on making some fun, themed cocktails? Then get creative: you could turn a "Sex on a Beach" cocktail into a "Sex in a Polar Bear Cage" cocktail, for example.

Lost Finale Party: Activities

Here's one fun Lost finale party activity that guests can engage in before they even show up: have them dress up as castaways. Untucked shirts, grimy tank tops, unkempt hair, and a sense of confusion is all they'll need for this costume.

Once guests arrive, consider playing some Lost trivia games. Just head over toLostpedia and find some of the most obscure questions you can. You'll be able to suss out the hardcore fans from the casual watchers in no time.

Another fun Lost party idea is to have your guests go on a "numbers" scavenger hunt. Place items around your apartment that correlate to or contain one of Lost's all-important numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. Your guests will have a ton of fun trying to figure out where the numbers come into play.

Lost Finale Party: After the Show

Here's a fun (but probably frustrating) idea: before the show begins, have all of your guests write down any and all unanswered questions that they might have. Then, have everyone place "bets" about what questions will be answered during the show. These bets can be in the form of pennies, favors, or any other fun (but not financially crippling) item. Once the show has ended, go through your list of questions, and pay out your bets.

At this point you will probably be made painfully aware that many important questions have not been answered. Luckily you will have plenty of emotional support to help you through what will surely be a difficult and emotionally draining evening. Enjoy!
