Introduction, Dedication, and Description

Jennifer Tarbox
Lost and Found Description
In the book, we meet Mariah Mayfair and follow her life from adolescence to young adulthood. A $20 bill, a spirited tomcat, a turbulent friendship, and even first love teach Mariah as she grows up that life is a chain of losing and finding, and the bigger the thing you lose, the bigger the thing you are bound to find. Lost and Found is meant for a young adult audience

Lost and Found Author's Dedication

I am indebted to everyone I have met and all those who have contributed pieces of the puzzle that has become me. I have drawn on my experiences and especially my closest relationships, to bring to life a completely made-up person and her family. Although events in this book mirror some of the things I said or did in my younger days, the characters are meant to represent facets of my personality and my imagination and not any actual people I have known. All the characters in this book are fictitious.

I have learned a lot about myself in writing it, and perhaps you will know me a bit better after reading it. This book is dedicated to Charlie, so he can someday know a little about my simple life and also learn to appreciate the complex joys of the written word.

I read the entire series and thought it was a great start. I was able to identify with the main character. One thing that might be developed is descriptions of the characters. I had a hard time picturing them in my head. It was also a little strange that her parents' first names were used instead of "her mom" or "her dad." It almost made it seem as though Mariah called them by their first names, since she is the main character. Overall, check for minor mistakes and consistency. Kelly was called Katie at one point. Otherwise, great job! I feel bad that more people aren't helping you with constructive criticism like you wanted. I hope you had some other feedback. Good luck! :)
