Lost Friendship
our friendship wasn't meant to last
for me it was one thing
for you quite another
Losing a friendship
isn't as hard as losing a marriage
or a family member to disease
or worse to death
The loss of a friendship
is after-all one of life's natural occurrences
like leaves turning brown and
eventually falling from a tree
We say things in friendship
sometimes misunderstood or felt sharply
your friend says you should know it hurt
you didn't mean for it to
Friendship that sits on the edge
wasn't the friendship you thought
it's gone with the wave of a hand or worse
with a silence that speaks loudly
That lost friendship
feels like a death cold and shivering
down below your heart where
their used to be a warm comfortable place

Wonderful poem. It catches the essence of acquaintances who are friends. I consider true friends ones that you can say anything to and everyone seems to rebound from the rocky spots. Hope all is well and glad to see you are back with some more of your awesome work.
