Lost Holloween Candy

It was Halloween night. the kids were all dressed up to go out and collect their candy from all the neighbors. They had a big brown paper bag and each person gave a 5 cent candy bar, that now cost 65 cents. Anyway the story goes like this. Now hang on, because it gets good.

We were all heading up the street and around the corner, where the lady gave out apple taffies every year., They were a mess to make and she only made enough for the neighbor kids, after that she gave out spiced wafers and apple cider. So we were all in a hurry to get our apple taffy. We all went down the street and around the corner to get to the ladies house. We were all having so much fun and eating our candy as we went.

So the boys, wanted to get their first. They all went through the boys back yard and straight up to the ladies house. While on their way home, and they did get their apple taffy. They were again cutting through their back yards. All of a sudden, the boy, lets say his name is sam, fell in a deep hole. Half filled with waste. You see it was a septic tank, that they have been having problems with and it was before the law was passed, to always have them covered. Well anyway, Sam fell into the septic tank, candy and all. He was drowning in there. He was also, fishing around to get his bag of candy. He tried and tried to save his candy. But he was sinking fast. So my brother reached down and got ahold of his hand, and somehow was able to pull him out of the septic tank. When he got out his cloths were covered of course. and his candy was gone. He was only able to save one piece. But he soon throwed it away. As it was quite dirty.

So they headed for his house where he changed his cloths and got another grocery bag, to go out and start all over again. At every house he explained what had happened to him. And the people all felt sorry for him. Now in those days, you went in while the people tryed to guess who you were. We all stayed in our own neighborhood. So he would go in and of course he still smelled and the people knew he was telling the truth. He spent hours because he walked on the streets, instead of taking any shortcuts.

But when he got done, he had a full bay of candy and all the neighbors gave him more because of what happened to him. So when you are out trick or treating, don't take any short cuts, through people's back yards. And above all things, always take somebody with you to fish you out, in case you fall in a hole.
