"Lost" Lost at the 2010 Emmys

Many thought that with Lost ending its series this year, it would be able to nab some of the awards it was nominated for at the 2010 Emmy Award Ceremonies. Instead, we got to see some references to Lost through out the show, but the series itself failed to sway the Emmy voters.

There were subtle references made about Lost that received a lot of laughter from the audience.

The first subtle reference that was made to Lost was when viewers got to see Jorge Garcia (Hurley from Lost) sing and dance in a Glee-like production. Later on during taped segments for each category, the writers of Lost spoke about notes they had gotten from the network and joked that they had wanted to create a 6 toed Egyptian statue and was told that it was too weird. They responded by making the infamous 4 toed Egyptian statue instead. Another reference to Lost was made when the host Jimmy Fallon, mimicking Green Day in his song and appearance, sang, "The island it was mythical, but in the end they died/ I didn't understand it, but I tried."

Instead, Lost was shut out by both Breaking Bad and Mad Men, which are series that will continue on to new seasons next year, unlike the now finished Lost. In the audience, Michael Emerson, Terry O'Quinn and Matthew Fox were present, but never got to speak up for the show they had worked so hard on. Fans can revel in the Emmy experience by checking out the interviews on the red carpet done earlier today with various Lost cast members.

Perhaps the shut out was due to the polarizing nature of the finale, or perhaps it was because the voters didn't want to bring too much attention to a show on its way out. In whatever case, Lost may have lost at the Emmys, but it still lives on in the fans interest in the form of blogging, buying DVDs, and even collecting memorabilia from the show.
