Lost Minutes with David Lins

Recon

David M. Lins
The teams have been drafted with only a few free agents left. What does "Recon" have in store for us tonight? I, for one, have low expectations. We have just come off of two brilliant episodes and it is pretty difficult to keep that kind of momentum three weeks running.

Here is my wish list before Lost wraps up for good: Sawyer embraces his heroic side, the Kwon reunion, Jack doesn't cry ever again, Hurley gets to kiss Libby again, Sawyer gets that date with Juliet, Richard gets a really good back story, Eko gets a spot in a flash sideways, Jacob is revealed as the good guy, Locke does something sinister enough to finally convince all the people with blinders on that he is evil incarnate and Desmond comes back. Most importantly, I hope these flash sideways tie-in somehow and blow our minds. Good luck writers!

05 - Sawyer gives Jin his word. They won't leave without Sun. This is significant, because Sawyer and Jin worked together in Dharma security for three years.

10 - Sawyer, do NOT mess with this actress. I saw her on Prison Break and she is good at killing people.

01 - I told you! She shoots people in almost every scene she is in! It doesn't seem like my air marshal prediction will come true, either.

05 - I could have sworn the password was going to be "Fishbiscuit."

28 - Okay. Not an air marshal, but a cop is pretty dang close! I did NOT call Miles being his partner and I love it. "Surprise" indeed!

30 - Squirrel baby! It looks like something Tim Burton would give his child.

44 - James Ford is still trying to track down Anthony Cooper? So, are we to assume Locke's dad is still a conman and Locke just doesn't know it? I don't think Juliet would work at a museum...but I know someone who might. And Miles dad works at a museum in L.A.? Don't be absurd! (Excuse the little shout-out to my favorite grumpy member of the Dharma Initiative.)

02 - I love how Terry O'Quinn is playing this Locke as a tense paternal type with serious control issues. He needs total control over his followers and he appears barely able to control himself. He almost seems eager to just let go and unleash a little wrath.

01 - The smoke monster wants to take a plane? "If you observe smoke in the cabin, please do not panic."

47 - Charlotte Lewis the archeologist makes sense working with a museum.

25 - If Sawyer just ends up dying of a communicable disease, I'll be really upset...but not surprised.

48 - Like I previously wrote - fish biscuits!

13 - There were the control issues resurfacing. It is like Locke is trying to maintain an illusion and he is angered when the ugly reality is revealed before his chosen time. It is like a camp of innocents walking with monsters wearing disguises. (no. Not like Scooby Doo. Okay...a little.)

26 - I'm starting to wish ABC would develop a police drama with these two.

20 - Officially the first time someone on this show was saved by collecting firewood. They are usually killed in all sorts of ways.

30 - Kate is crying and vulnerable. Locke appears on cue.

54 - That was the creepiest smile I have ever seen Locke attempt.

49 - Sonic fences are being set up? If this is Widmore's crew, it seems he isn't on Locke's side after all.

53 - One man with a rifle looks fourteen years old and another has a worse fake beard than Jack had while screaming "We have to go back Kate!"

10 - This is quite cool. Sawyer watches a scene from "Little House On The Prairie." Josh Holloway actually tried out for a role in a Little House miniseries several years back. He didn't get the part and actually contemplated quitting acting. He decided to give it another shot. Now? He is Sawyer...watching "Little House."

20 - It would have been pretty cool if the man on the sub was Gene Hackman. (Or Denzel Washington.)

26 - Was Claire's emotional apology sincere? Or was her emotion based in fear as a result of a threat from Locke?

25 - Sawyer is playing a very dangerous game with two very dangerous entities.

07 - I find it fitting Kate is stoking the fire. The writers seem intent on stoking the possibility of a new spark between Sawyer and Kate. I wish they would stop. The most believable romance on this show was Sawyer and Juliet.

While this episode didn't blow my socks off, it accomplished what it needed to: effectively moved us to a new point in the final drama. I didn't get a thing from my wish list, but we got a few other things instead. Widmore has arrived. He has something locked valuable in the sub. He is setting up a portable sonic fence and seems to be opposed to Locke, after all. Are we back to Jacob's army next week?
