Since someone revealed the "flashback" secret before it was aired last year, the producers have decided not to give a hint or idea of what's going to happen, so we'll have to deal with the episodes as they come. Here is a small guide of issues that will probably be explored in Season 4.
Are they rescued? No one trusts Ben, but Ben has one thing over anyone else on the island: he's been there longer than almost anyone else. He knows the secrets, the lies, the tricks, everything. And even though he has been deceptive towards people, he generally tells the truth. So is he giving the straight truth when he tells Jack that the guys that are coming aren't going to rescue them but do far worse?
Desmond and Charlie. Will Desmond feel bad about letting Charlie die? He knew it was coming. But the more Desmond tried to help, the more it got worse. Eventually Charlie knew his fate was coming, so he just ended it in the best way possible: by sacrificing himself for the greater good. But will Desmond understand that? Given his new powers, will he reveal the future to anyone else, or will he just not interfere this time around?
Jack and the sacrificed crew. At the end of Season 3, Jack was given a hostage situation where a larger group of flight survivors would survive if Jack basically signed the death warrant for a handful, most of them Jacks' loyal friends on the island. When they finally get a chance to sit down and sort it all out, will they take sides or remain united?
Flash forwards. Jack and Kate were seen in a "flash back" that was actually a flash forward. Will the entire next season be comprised of flash forwards, or will we continue to get insight on the characters through traditional flashbacks?
Sawyer, Kate, Jack. Is this triangle finally over now that Sawyer and Kate have, um, had relations? Jack rarely seems to truly express how he feels about Kate or anyone on the island, and he seems to have taken an interest in Juliet. Either the love angle will disappear, or it will morph into a quadrangle.
What's up with John Locke and the island? John Locke's character has morphed from expert jungle boy in Season One to weak-willed invalid through season 2 and most of season 3 to Killer John at the end. Which John Locke will show up this season, and how will his new relationship with the island affect everyone else?
Sun and Jin. Will Sun and Jin's baby turn out ok? If so, will Jin's current legal issues (Lost has a drunken driving curse) affect his role on the show?
Penelope. Will Penelope be with the rescue crew? And what happens when she finds out about Charlie if she does show up?
Lost and the WGA. How many episodes of Lost will we actually get to see in a row? Currently there are only eight shows in the can. Let's say the strike ended tomorrow. How will the quality of writing affect future episodes if given such a short period of time to complete them?
Lost games, clues, hints outside the television show. Two years ago Lost made a big deal about clues found through telephone games and other resources outside of the show. With the exception of a few core fans, most people were frustrated with the games and didn't continue to play them in order to gain more insight. Frankly, people wanted to just stick to the mystery of the show rather than belabor themselves, only to find out there is a little more history to the magic numbers. Will there be another attempt to expand the Lost brand, or will the creators keep it simple?
Hopefully these questions and issues will be answered in this upcoming, eight episode run. If not, we'll just be left clamoring for more Lost.

Post a CommentBen's probably right, Jack's gonna sell everyone out to get off the island and that's why he's so guilty in the future, the triangle will never be over, killer Locke's gonna stay to defend the island, Penelope's nowhere to be found yet, and we'll get all 16 episodes this year. I'd like to be proven wrong about the first few things so I'll be more surprised- but I'll take getting the all 16 episodes prediction right instead.
