At 9pm, EST, the new season officially began. The opening scene was a car being chased, with someone watching it on the television. Turns out it is our beloved Hurley driving the car. This seems to be another flash forward and this time a tidbit is revealed. He says "I am one of the Oceanic Six"....ah.....so, six get back "home". The irony is, to the LOST fanatic fan, such as myself, that four characters that we have seen return home, and are still alive, (Hurley, Kate and Jack) seem more lost in the future than ever before. In fact, one dies in a flash forward (Season three, final episode) and I can only guess that it is because all of them have been forced to keep a lie, and it drove that particular character crazy (we don't know who it is yet).
The main message of this show was that there is a need for them to go back. There is definitely unfinished business. This would run with one of the shows motifs, which is redemption. Perhaps they did not yet find redemption and need to go back. In fact, Charlie appears to Hurley with the message, "They Need You". Perhaps their redemption will be saving those who are still left on the island.
As for the "present" time with those on the island, the survivors have broken off into two camps; one is led by Locke (man of faith) and the other is lead by Jack (man of reason). Both groups get someone from this mysterious freight, who parachuted in. (If the loyal fan of LOST remembers, Ben tried to pretend that he had parachuted in too and we found out that someone else had, at that time). Jack and Kate are told that there were four people meant to parachute on to the island . Hurley was playing Connect Four in the psych ward during a flash forward. A connection? Probably.
The beauty of LOST is with each question answered, another question arises.

Post a CommentIn Daniel's Experiment, why can the islanders and freighter crew talk on the phone in real time yet a missile lands after a long time for the islanders.? I've got an idea in lost_in_time
(no can post comments, but was able to rate your article on Lost)
S4.3 Experiential missile has Daniel worried that one clock is slower than the other. Read about the Minkowski diagram of relativistic time dilation paradox with a link to a interactive Java visual in my upcoming article.
S4.3 Daniel's experiential missile was fired and Regina counted down 20 seconds, after a long delayed landing, Daniel is worried that one clock is slower than the other by a half hour.
