The Lost season premiere is now scheduled, as the sixth and final season of Lost gets set to premiere on ABC. It's been a long time coming, and fans have had to wait since last spring when the show was left on an extreme cliffhanger that almost defies explanation from a viewer's standpoint. ABC announced on Thursday that the Lost season premiere will be on Tuesday, February 2nd. This will mark the beginning of the sixth season of Lost, which has been a spring show for the past couple of seasons in order to both extend the show, and keep ABC from having to show repeat episodes during the week.

The Lost season premiere is going to be a two hour episode, with the show beginning at 9 P.M. PST and extending until 11 P.M. After the two our season premiere, Lost will go into the 9 P.M. time slot on ABC every Tuesday until they run out of episodes to present. At 8 P.M. right before the Lost season premiere hits the air, ABC will show their typical recap show which breaks down where the characters and storylines have led up to the final season premiere. It's typically a good idea for a show like this, because sometimes fans can forget some of the nuances in the script in between seasons.

The final season of Lost is expected to be a really good one, with the hope of many fans that a lot of answers are on the horizon. Lost has always prided itself as a show that kept the mystery going from week to week, and there are still a lot of secrets about the island as well as the experiments that took place there that need to be answered. There aren't many episodes left to go, and that has definitely ramped up the excitement level for when the final season of Lost finally gets started. Fans of Lost have stuck with the show this long, and can be expected to give ABC some great ratings numbers when it finally returns in February.

It's unclear what ABC plans to do with the Dancing with the Stars results show that has been airing in this time slot, but it is an easy enough show to move to an 8 P.M. time slot so that they can also use it as a lead-in to Lost. Hopefully this final season has the same strong writing that made it such a hit in the first season, and that the writers aren't planning on alienating the audience or the characters from where the story was intended to conclude. With more than 70 days still left before the season premiere, it's time to go enjoy some of the older episodes on ABC.com in order to refresh the memory on where season five of Lost took the show.
