Lost Series Finale 2010 Reviews Just Shy of Greatness

Robert Dougherty
The Lost series finale in 2010 inspired a lot of different reviews. No Lost series finale review is the same, which is befitting this series. For all the importance of the survivors uniting in life and death, the fans themselves are not all united. Although the overall response may end up being more positive than negative, the backlash is still there. The end may not be bashed as much as Seinfeld and Battlestar Galactica, but it won't be as embraced as the Six Feet Under ending either - at least not in all circles. As such, Lost series finale 2010 reviews are bound to have a lower score than most expected.

Warning: Major spoilers follow.

The best scale for an episode rating is on Dark UFO, which is updating its episode table for the final time. After 21,000 votes, the Lost series finale 2010 only has an average of 4.21 out of 5. Reviews were far higher for episodes like "Ab Aeterno" "Happily Ever After" and even the finale prelude "What They Died For."

This rating reflects the "good but not great" vibe from Lost series finale 2010 reviews. Of course, many hard core fans are bound to love it unconditionally, while those on the fence may be less enthusiastic. But for an episode that was anticipated for six years, there likely should have been more raves.

Certain parts of the Lost series finale 2010 got big praise, however. Ironically, for all the debate over the sideways world resolution, it may have had the best emotional moments of the night, due to the various awakenings. On the island, things moved slower as the final battle with the Man in Black formed, followed by another hour of action.

Since little was explained about the island itself, and more confusing elements were added to the infamous cave of light, the Lost series finale reviews were knocked down a peg for that. But virtually everyone admitted after the show, and even before, that the focus of this episode was on the characters, and not the mythology.

At first, everyone knew that Lost was more about the people than the mysteries. But in recent years, that had been forgotten by the fans, and by the show at times. Yet last night, the characters and their emotional journey took over again. Thanks to that, the Lost series finale 2010 reviews may have been more forgiving about the mythology - but maybe not by much.

Jack's mistakes were easy to mock over the year, but in the end, he carried the weight. Kate finally chose her man, while countless characters found their lost love again. Hurley found a fitting destiny, and Ben may have finally inched towards redemption.

At the least, the Lost series finale 2010 reviews are all sad to see the characters go -- even if they didn't like where they went.

Oops. Some people need to rethink their idea of the ending. "The images shown during the end credits of the 'Lost' finale, which included shots of Oceanic 815 on a deserted beach, were not part of the final story," an ABC spokesperson told the Los Angles Times via e-mail on Tuesday.

Dawn - Please explain your take on why Christian told Jack that some of the people died before him and some long after if everyone died in the crash as you believe.

I thought the final episode explained all that needed to be explained. The writers always said they did not want to dumb down the story for the viewers but wanted to credit the viewers with the intelligence to understand the story. The very last shot we saw in the series finale explained it all. The last shot wasn't of Jack closing his eyes but was of the beach where the Oceanic plane crashed with no survivors. None of the plane crash parts or debris had been disturbed. I took this to mean that no one survived the plane crash. Everyone died at the same time in the crash we saw in episode one. Every episode since was of the survivor's struggling with their premature deaths and their journey to find the light. They didn't know they were dead. Desmond represented the light from the moment he turned the light on in the hatch. He was the spirit that helped them find their way to cross over to the light. Everything that happened in between the crash and making their way to the ligh

If the writers of "Lost" tried to convert the show into a novel, they would fail miserably. A good story is about characters, setting, etc., and tying details together to show their significance. I think the writers could have resolved some of the questions along the way. To say now that it was all about the characters seems to be a cop-out to me.

timo..they explained every important question there was to be explained. The island was a freaking island. It had special properties because of the electromagnetism. How is the characters all dying at some point an easy way out? Everyone dies, you, me, everyone. Whatever you believe happens after death in this sci-fi story they received their closure and happy ending together in death.

how many years have i watched this? nothing explaind what a waste of time, it is not just about the characters its about closure which i didnt get. i just felt it was an easy way out! DEATH! explain the island!? what was going on! everything just felt to rushed over the last few weeks. it took how long for Jack and Sawyer to come to blows (5 series) but in one episode sawyer gets his woman back (juliette) and is best mates with jack at the end who shacks up with frekels who was sawyers bit on the side! is death really like that GOD I HOPE NOT! is there something im missing? other than the characters which were great! DO YOU NOT FEEL SO LET DOWN? i do watched the finale 3 times now to see if i have missed anything, but no i havent still feel let down by such great writers

sad to see it go on 5/25. Yes Lost was about both the mystery and the characters. I'm saying if you paid close attention to the show you would see that they did in fact answer every IMPORTANT question that they raised. Sure they left little things here and there to your imagination but that's the beauty of the show. The problem is people want to be hit over the head with answers. Instead the writers decided to not insult the viewers intelligence. They gave us the answers but sadly yes a large portion of people really are too stupid to get it. I loved the finale. If you didn't that's fine that's your opinion. But don't complain about not getting answers. They were there unless you chose not to see them.

The alternate reality in the last season of Lost was about the reconnections between the castaways. Over the past seasons, they have all grown apart. This last episode brought them all together, and nothing else matters but the deep relationships they made. Life is not just about the journey but the connection with people along the way...

guest on 5/25, don't be like that. Is that really how it is? If you don't like the ending, it's because you're too stupid to get it? That's not necessary. I agree with Max, the show was always about the mysticism of the island. The characters (as important as they were to us) were only relevant because they had a relationship to the island for some reason. For that relationship to be justified by Jacob in 30 seconds ("none of you were fine") is a little vacuous to be kind and not the depth that I was hoping for. I'll miss the show and did like it, but was hoping for more from the ending. Oh well. I wont get sucked into something like this ever again. :(

Lol wow you are seriously dense. The show answered every major question it presented if you can't see that then your ignoring the answers they gave. I suppose you would have like to have been spoon fed "the answer to mystery number 1 is such and such." Even then you still probably would not have understood what was going on.
